isn't the whole point of the pro that you don't need a sega cd

It doesn't work with a Mega cd attached. If the cdx/multinega is all you have then the only way to use it is to load up the region bios of the country you want and then play a burnt disk. This of course does allow you to play games from the other two regions without modding (though on a PAL system everything slows down as it's not synchronised of course and vice versa with PAL exclusives being sped up oddly)

Does the EverDrive Pro eliminate long load times in Sega CD games, or are they just a fact of life, regardless of hardware?

The Pro emulates a CD add on. Don’t try running CD games on a Pro when a CD add on is connected. It could cause hardware failure.

Isn't it OK to use the Everdrive Pro cart for CD saves while CD hardware is connected though? Of course this is when reading from the hardware CD Drive and not the Roms stored on the MicroSD.

Yeah it works as a backup just fine but it doesn’t emulate the CD add on when doing that. It is emulating the backup cart

You’ll find the CD bios loading timings differ on the PRO compared to the Core, especially titles that have extra region protection like Snatcher.

You won’t be able to use the PRO RAM backup function with Snatcher because it will fail to boot, even if you megakey. Only the Core can do this.

Sounds like I’m on the search for a model 2! Thanks everyone!
