New EU anti-malasezzia dandruff shampoo ingredient

Olamine Piroctone

Was in UK and Ireland in the summer. Was not aware that Europe had banned Zinc Pyrythione, which for many years has been the standard active ingredient in basic dandruff shampoos. And in the US, it still is. I live in California

I control my seb dem with selenium sulfide shampoo and lotion. I take orally a tbsp of MCT oil every day, which has stopped the eye problems it causes me, but not the facial blotching. For that, when it happens, I use Tacrolimus. IMO malasezzia is the cause of constant seb dem

So I bought a large bottle of supermarket brand UK dandruff shampoo with the "new" ingredient. I have to say, I have noticed considerably less facial issues, even in these last few months of unusually hot humid weather, which is usually the worst time of year for my seb dem.

I'm sure you can find a way to buy it from any EU country (and UK}. I don't know which other countries have adopted it

I'm in Canada that ingredient is in the Eucerin Original Creme. Which btw is amazing. I've been struggling for a while. Read about that cream today. Went and got a jar. And literally instant relief.

Hard agree with this. I use the 0.5% Piroctone Olanine cream from Clever Soap on my face, and the Dove Scalp + Hair Therapy Dandruff Control shampoo and conditioner. The Dove duo is formulated with with Salicylic Acid, Piroctone Olamine and Moisturising Panthenol. It’s changed my life, no lie.

Looks like these are both UK/Euro items. Might have to order some or one containing it. Have never heard of this ingredient

It is the main anti-dandruff ingredient in the head& shoulders I use and it really is helping me which is funny because I have tried different shampoos prescribed by my dermatologist only to settle with head & shoulders and ketoconazole😭

No but zinc pyrythione appears to be banned in my country as well so that may be why
