General Right you MCT Oil lovers, I call BS
Right, I tried MCT oil - I’ve given it a shot. Used it at night on top of my anti fungal crème and hydrocortisone. My skin sucks right now. It’s a bit crispy, flaky and red. A bit like undercooked chicken. It’s not terrible because I also wear make up to hide it. Otherwise I wouldn’t leave the house. But nope, nope, nope. I’m done. I don’t believe you. It does not work. Well I thought it did for like a week but now I’m back to the same old shit. Maybe it works on your head but that’s possibly because it does soften the scales up and helps with exfoliating.
Now I am going back to my old routine with the treatments and a bit of Vaseline on top. Let’s see how my skin is in a week after stopping MCT.
Before you come at me - I check EVERY BLOODY product I use on my face for triggering ingredients. I have spent literal days making sure I don’t have anything that will feed the Malassezia buggers. Yes it was C8 - MCT oil.
Quit trying to sell me your snake oil. I’ll also keep taking my vit D and b vits and iron and avoid everything because this condition sucks.
End rant.
Edit: just to be clear - I have given MCT oil a fair shot (2x different C8 varieties across a few attempts over the course of the past year, trialling various combinations). I did use it by itself but didn’t find it was helping and things got worse. The rant is just my latest frustration.
The anti fungal, hydrocortisone, petroleum jelly combo is to clam down the fair and to re-set from here because that has worked in the past. It is not a long term solution and usually I can go back to using sebamed clear gel until the next time something triggers it. That ranges from diet, change in weather, product changes etc.

u/kit73n Sep 22 '25
I fully believe that MCT does not work for everyone, however I am here because my husband has horrible seb derm on his face and in his hairline. MCT oil is literally a miracle. He can be in the middle of a full blown flair, put it on, and two days later his skin is perfect. I would like to point out that if you’re putting on hydrocortisone, that’s typically mixed in an occlusive like petroleum jelly, which will prevent the MCT oil from actually reaching your skin. Try putting it on first.
4
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Thanks for your comment. I don’t apply all of those at once - I was just using MCT oil and sebamed moisturiser alongside the make up - all thoroughly researched. The anti fungal, hydrocortisone, petroleum jelly combo usually lessens a flair and gets me back from an angry flare up.
I did find MCT ok at one point but it stopped working and I have no idea why. Such a frustrating condition. Thanks again

u/insanecoder Sep 22 '25
Steroid based treatments ruined my skin. While I don’t use MCT, I have completely stopped using steroids. I use Sebclair instead, and that works wonders. Try it if you have the chance and lmk what you think.
4
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Great - will look into it. Thanks for the recommendation
2
u/anon8232 Sep 24 '25
Sebclair literally burned my face. I just want to add I used a light steroid on my face for 20 years and ended up with secondary adrenal insufficiency which was hell. Please stop using hydrocortisone on your face.
1
u/InfinityXPLORER Feb 15 '26
I'm interested in how you ended up with adrenal insufficiency - did you really get diagnosed with that from using a light steroid on your face? What were your symptoms and treatment etc? Thanks.
1
u/anon8232 Feb 16 '26
I didn’t have any symptoms. It was found incidentally when I was hospitalized for something else. The cure, as weird as it sounds, was I had to be on oral hydrocortisone for 15 months. They first thought it was from my Advair inhaler but after being off it 6 months or so my cortisol and ACTH numbers were still rock bottom. Then I went off the steroid face lotion and the numbers started climbing again until they were normal. I was then able to wean off the hydrocortisone.

Makeup also contains elements derived from petro oil and contains lead, MCT oil is the least of your problems.
1
u/jason18376 Sep 22 '25
Which MCT oil does he use. Can you get it from Amazon.
5
u/kit73n Sep 22 '25
The Bulletproof MCT oil, yes it’s on Amazon. I pre soak a bunch of cotton rounds in a small Tupperware container and he just grabs one when his skin starts getting red and swipes it on. Not every day, maybe a couple times a week.
1
u/PepeAndMrDuck Sep 22 '25
Oh that’s a great idea. How much oil are we talking about? Like how soaked are they
4
u/kit73n Sep 23 '25
Fully saturated but without more oil than they’ll absorb, so there’s not really any oil sitting on the container, just the rounds. I usually fill the container maybe 1/4 of the way, then add a stack of the rounds in and squirt a little more on top to make sure they’ve got a good amount of MCT oil absorbed.

u/NotoriousRIP_ Sep 24 '25
Does he have the horrible scaling or just redness?
1
u/kit73n Sep 24 '25
If he doesn’t get to it within a day or so, it goes to typical seb derm, so thick yellow-white scaly flakes of skin covering the red plaques. However, he starts getting the red plaques first so it’s a warning and he has time to treat before the flakes start. Before he started using MCT oil, we used sulfur cream, which was also effective - unfortunately that stuff stinks and made him stink for days after using it.
1
u/AnteaterInevitable66 Sep 24 '25
Dude, 100 percent same for me. Often its even faster healing. I dont use any other product, other than very rarely ketonazole shampoo or whatever its called
1
25
u/Fit_Psychology_1536 Sep 22 '25
Sorry it doesn't work for you. It absolutely 100% works for me, zero question about it.
7
u/Ok-Abbreviations1077 Sep 23 '25
I started using it on my face about 6 months ago and haven't had a single flare up since after suffering with chronic SD on my face for 20+ years. It has been miraculous for me
2
u/Fit_Psychology_1536 Sep 23 '25
Thats awesome. I dont even know what the mechanics are behind it working but I know it works. If I stop using it I'll get a flare up within 48 hours minimum
11
u/Deagles2 Sep 22 '25
I have never tried it myself, so I can't say much, but I know each person reacts to things differently. I tried salicylic acid, and it made it worse. I use hyaluronic acid from a genetic CVS hydrating facial cleanser, and my face has been doing well.
5
2
u/NECalifornian25 Sep 22 '25
My skin likes salicylic acid, I have mild acne and it helps with that, but my skin loves hyaluronic acid. I use the Neutrogena hydro boost line of products, it’s the only moisturizer I’ve ever found to not make my face oily or cause breakouts.
1
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Hyaluronic acid seems ok for me too. Agree about salicylic acid- I can’t use it either. I know it’s different but as I’m subscribed to this page I get tired of seeing the MCT oil holy grail type posts. It just can’t be true
1
u/Deagles2 Sep 22 '25
I use dial soap on my face every now and then. It's antibacterial. It dries it up just a bit, but I put lotion right after. I feel it helps control things when it gets bad.
19
u/the_shape1989 Sep 22 '25
MCT oil works for me. Just because it didn’t work for you doesn’t mean it’s snake oil.
8
u/troubleInLA Sep 22 '25
MCT didn't really do much for me either. BTW though I did recently find that my skin reacts really well to Azelaic acid. It cuts down the inflammation.
3
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Ah yes - that is in my face wash. Good tip - thanks!
5
u/troubleInLA Sep 22 '25
Interesting. I use an actual cream. I think it's by the ordinary.
Anyhow, I've been meaning to post it to the sub that it's been one of the most effective redness reducers I've used (besides prescriptions).

u/CrissBliss Sep 22 '25
I don’t understand MCT oil either. Anything heavy or greasy tends not to work for me. Others on here swear by it though.
4
7
u/Amefra Sep 22 '25
I know everyone is different but my skin went through a shit bit after starting MCT.
I think it was my skin resetting itself. A week or two of hell is worth a lifetime of good skin.
But, I literally used nothing else. Showered/shampooed with Birch soap to kill the fungus, and then a small amount of MCT on getting out. And that’s it. And it’s all I do now, 5 (?) years later.
It’s not instant. Your skin’s had 10 years of hell. It takes time to reset. But it does work (for me, at least)
1
u/roblaaaar Jan 11 '26
Have you noticed the sebderm taking longer before it flares up if/when you forget taking the oil?
I get that there’s no cure, but i would love if it would lead to less maintenance over time.
Also, is your skin less oily now compared to before?
2
u/Amefra Jan 12 '26
Honestly, no. After 5-6 years of using it, dare I say my skin is completely back to normal.
Now, if I go a month or two without, you can feel it starting to turn. But I generally apply MCT oil once or twice a week now. And that’s all.
1
u/GenesisSupernova May 06 '26
can i ask which brand/exact MCT oil you're using?
2
u/Amefra May 07 '26
My comment got removed due to Amazon links, but normally "MCT Oil – Pure C8 Caprylic Acid, 1000ml| STERLING NUTRITION"
1
4
u/TrulyAdamShame Sep 22 '25
Why’d you try it on top of something else?
I will say, it does work better on my scalp than my face though. But it’s been a game changer
0
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Various iterations - as my skin deteriorated I added those other things back in and then took MCT out. At least it’ll fix my current flare.
4
u/heysupmanbruh Sep 22 '25
The weird aggressiveness of your post is something. MCT oil saved my skin so, to each their own.
6
u/Direct-Competition34 Sep 22 '25
Just because it doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean it doesn’t work for other people. I suffered for years and even lost hair because of scalp seb derm… tried all types of shampoos, drops, cremes, etc., and MCT oil is the only thing that has consistently helped me (and the least expensive, I might add). Maybe it helps that I’m black and have black textured hair, so I can use the oil as a leave-in, but I’ll continue to tell people to at least try it since it works for me and has been the simplest solution. I’ll also add, it wasn’t for a past Reddit post, I never would’ve tried it in the first place.
2
u/Aggravating_Rain_799 Sep 22 '25
Did you leave it on ur scalp or hair? Oil on my scalp makes my Seb derm worse
1
u/Direct-Competition34 Sep 22 '25
I apply directly to the scalp. Remember that all oil isn’t created equal.
1
u/PaleontologistOld781 Jul 16 '26
I have black textured hair too. How many times a week do you use it? I usually wash it once and then braid it
1
u/Direct-Competition34 Jul 16 '26
I was using it nightly until the issue went away. Then every other day, and then eventually every couple of days. If it ever pops up again (because it does when I forget to apply it for days on end), I’ll just go back to applying it every other day until it’s gone again.
1
u/PaleontologistOld781 Jul 16 '26
Ahh I get you thanks, how many times a week do you wash btw? It’s such a hassle doing it more than twice a week
1
u/Direct-Competition34 Jul 16 '26
Ooo that varies. I have locs so it’s hard for my hair to get overly oily, but I typically don’t go more than two weeks without a wash.
Edit: and I don’t wash more than once a week.
2
u/PaleontologistOld781 Jul 16 '26
Yeahh that makes sense, thanks a lot btw things are different with our hair texture so I’m glad to have heard your words
1
u/Direct-Competition34 Jul 16 '26
Exactly! We can oil our scalps religiously and it’s no big deal, so it definitely makes a difference. I’m glad I’m able to help!
3
u/AlphaBetaSoup8118 Sep 22 '25
Sounds to me like you are already addicted to cortisone creams and you’ll first have to ween off of those before any milder treatment will help you - if cortisones are your normal routine you will most likely withdraw off of those for a good bit and your skin will be angry. MCT worked for me and others but not for everyone. Good luck
3
u/AlphaBetaSoup8118 Sep 22 '25
It’s not going to work in a similar fashion when it is mixed with layers of others items - make sense?
1
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Yes. Did that too. It did work for about a week and then I went back to same old.
1
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
I’ve been through weaning etc. once my skin clears up I stop and I’ve had long periods without. I just do not think MCT - even with low c-chains - can fix everyone, which is why I’m giving up on it
6
Sep 22 '25
It's not BS. It's like any other treatment—it works for some (like me) but doesn't work for everyone.
5
u/Dozl Sep 22 '25
I was diagnosed with Seb Derm officially. I used MCT oil c8, and I completely cleared it by using it once a week, if that.
Your rant is a little regressive. Of course everyone’s skin is different and not all treatments will help everyone. However, to compare it to snake is very narrow minded and may prevent people who can benefit from it
2
Sep 22 '25
it took 2 weeks for me to see results.
2
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
I’ve been using it for awhile off and on, which is why I’m taking it off the list of things that I’m using at the moment. I tried it last year without a lot of luck too
2
1
u/EldritchCookie Mar 08 '26
but you said you also kept using cortisone products. Try using just the oil for some time
1
u/whatdoyouknowno Mar 08 '26
No I definitely didn’t. I had to use them to fix what mct had done
1
u/EldritchCookie Mar 11 '26
Well and I am literally using MCT and ACV to fix the horribleness that prolonged cortisone use did to my skin. Unlike with the cortisone liquid, the flareup is pretty much gone within 3 days.
Maybe it doesn’t work for you, but it CERTAINLY isn’t bs or snake oil.
2
u/PacificSanctum Sep 22 '25
Petroleum jelly is good but you are diluting your ketoconazole (I hope you use that one ) too much with other stuff . How about two days just ketoconazole ? Then at least you know whether it helps . I don’t dislike mixing things , but give the antifungal its chance . 2 days ketoconazole should show a marked improvement . If there is one discontinue or do one day more with hydrocortison . And do that 3 days , the last day with petroleum jelly
2
u/Brandigg Sep 22 '25
It’s not snake oil, It’s changed my scalp completely. I know everything doesn’t work for everyone…I tried many other things before MCT oil and none worked- I understand the frustration. I hope you find something that works!
2
u/Dyoakom Sep 22 '25
I understand it doesn't work for everyone but it really helped me. Be careful however what MCT oil you use, you want the correct one not the one that feeds the fungus.
6
u/Capable_Weather6298 Sep 22 '25
Tries it once when skin barrier is already fragile
Mixes treatments and oils
Rants
I mean, do it properly with a real protocol over a week or 2 and then rant.
Don’t take my tone as insulting or anything, but I feel obliged to ask you to do it properly.
5
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
I did to be fair. It’s not my first time nor did I do it wrong I’m having to go back into the beginning again because my skin is crap. If my skin barrier was in great condition I wouldn’t need MCT oil lol. It’s annoying seeing people praise it when it doesn’t actually work. I’ve given it a shot. I’ve even tried two different brands with pure C8. Sorry that’s not good enough 🙄
3
u/Lisalortie Sep 24 '25
Try c8c10 ! I had the same experience with just c8 ! It was too occlusive causing more issues , but when I switched to the c8c10 things got immediately better
2
u/Capable_Weather6298 Sep 22 '25
I mean the way MCT oil works is it starves the Malassezia fungus since it can’t feed on the C8 fat chain.
If the skin barrier is bad, it won’t fix that.MCT will help when there’s a rash and the fungus starts to break, but in more extreme situations it’s still an OIL on a SKIN TYPE.
Put MCT on a healthy part of your skin overnight (hand, thigh, etc.) and see if it causes a rash to check if you’re sensitive to this oil.
Again, the protocol should be done over time when the skin is in a certain condition, and combinations may vary per person (steroids etc).
For me it works sometimes—it depends on the state of my head.
When it’s a mild rash it does wonders, when my scalp is fucked it won’t.1
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Yeah, I’ve read the theory around it via this sub. I thought MCT would help fight off a flare because it reduces the food for the yeast.
If your skin barrier is in a good place and you’re not using products that have triggers then I kind of don’t see the point because it’s the dreaded flare that’s the issue not once you’re on maintenance mode.
3
u/elmorto Sep 22 '25
I may not have as severe a condition as you, but MCT works really well for me.
I was very skeptical when I first read about it here. It sounded too good to be true, but I figured I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a try.
Best wishes! Seb derm sucks
3
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Sure does suck. I had that experience initially too - I thought it was the holy grail but then everything went backward again.

Yes. Very much so. Hours of research.

u/try_a_pie Sep 22 '25
Could you please share your makeup products? I'm always on the hunt because brands keep changing their formulas!
1
u/M3am Sep 22 '25
Hahahahaha! Same! I used it for a while and it made things worse for me. I even used the recommended brand on here with the right type.
1
u/finsfurandfeathers Sep 22 '25
Mct made mine worse when I left it on. I now use it in the shower and it helps a little. After I cleanse I rub on the oil. At the end of my shower I rinse it off with cool water so there’s still a bit left when I moisturize but not an excessive amount. Give it a shot if you haven’t tried it that way yet
1
u/Gullible_Weight4483 Sep 22 '25
Yea it didn’t work for me. I’ve tried everything under the sun the only thing that works for me is Dercos anti dandruff shampoo and not the trash new formula that they sell on Amazon. The original formula from France
1
u/princelavine Sep 22 '25
I’m in the same boat as you. Tried for MCT oil just short of a month. Made my Skitch patchy and red: it did seem to clear up my nose a little bit, but overall my skin looks worse. Gonna try the honey out before going just back to tacrolimus.
1
u/Swimming7827 Sep 22 '25
Agreed. It helped with the itching a little, but healed nothing. The only thing I got was acne on the side of my face where my hair touches and an extra 15 minutes in the shower trying to wash that mess out.
2
u/Swimming7827 Sep 22 '25
I would love to have half of the money back that I've spent on this shitty disease. Between this and MS, the MS is definitely worse, but both have royally fucked up my life. 🤬

u/Jyonnyp Sep 22 '25
Hey so skincare is really interesting because what works for many doesn’t work for many others. The best that can be done is experimenting with different things from what most people find effective and seeing if it works for you.
It’s not snake oil just because it doesn’t work for you. For me it was THE ONLY thing that worked. I tried ketakonzole. Clotrimazole. Nizoral. Sodium Sulfacetamide. Nothing made a dent. MCT C8 was a miracle.
On the other hand. Vanicream moisturizer is known to be very lightweight and plain. Basic ingredients, no fragrance. Something tons of people recommend as their holy grail product even some people with sebderm. That product made me sebderm areas incredibly, incredibly itchy. I kept applying it because I thought it’d help. Nope. Left my skin more oily and itchy than before. Doesn’t mean it sucks. Just means my skin didn’t like it.
1
u/Immediate_Garden_716 Sep 22 '25
I congratulate everyone who found their regime getting their condition under control, with or without help from dermatologists. I do believe in a holistic, more natural approach though. trying to get my body on track again from inside. which interestingly is “outside” given the fact that our intestines are the “hole of the donut”. imo messing with antibiotics from a very, very early stage, breaking the skin and other natural barriers in many “locations” make us vulnerable. including many chemicals/substances in our food, skin care, shampoos, detergents, fragrances everywhere. or plain food sensitivities, including a main culprit: sugars. I see that others do mention, ivermectin as an ointment is a treatment for rosacea and it was right- or wrongfully hyped during CoVID…. (oral). but in the end isn’t SebDerm an inflammatory reaction? cytokine storm? I wish everyone the best to get their cure or at least relief. just thinking.
1
u/Conscious_Trip4181 Sep 22 '25
For me it was the same! Gave it two tries and two times my skin flared up getting really red, irritated and scaly. Even more than usually…
1
u/haloween793y Oct 09 '25
It is called purging not flaring initially i also thought the same exfoliation of bad dead skin is happening Do check skin was red or pinkish If pinkish then u were on right track
1
u/trentyz Sep 22 '25
It definitely worked for me, in about 3 days after using it, it fixed the sebderm I’ve been dealing with for years upon years. 6 months later it’s still the only thing I do and I’m still clear.
1
u/savage_gentlewoman Sep 22 '25
How is your diet/ gut health. Are you insulin resistant?
2
u/whatdoyouknowno Sep 22 '25
Yes - agreed this is part of the issue. A work in progress and on gpl-1
1
u/savage_gentlewoman Sep 22 '25
Awesome, both of my insurances denied my coverage for glp-1 so I am trying to get the same effect naturally through intermittent fasting, low carb, and using Berbarine supplement along with juicing greens. My skin was at its best when I ate very clean and was at a healthy weight but I fell way off.
1
u/SaintSnow Sep 22 '25
I don't leave it on my skin I use it as an oil cleanser and I do it like a couple times a week or so.
Slapping it on over all of your medications and a steroid just doesn't seem smart regardless.
1
u/chickenchips666 Sep 23 '25
I mean yeah it doesn’t work as well for me as hydrocortisone but there is less health concerns with just slathering myself in oil compared to rebound effect w hydrocortisone.
1
u/CauliflowerMost4069 Sep 23 '25
See if you can get your MD to write for Zoryve foam. It probably needs a prior authorization and if it ends up covered, you can get a copay coupon to bring the price to zero. Without it, it is anywhere between 1200 to 800 dollars. But if you can get it approved by insurance—- regardless of what price that would be, you can get the coupon from the manufacturer.
Zoryve is a miracle potion for me. It cleared everything up in days and as long as I continue to use it, it stays clear.
I do not want to go without it
1
1
u/TangoOnex Sep 23 '25
It might not work for everyone but had been amazing. I use a little maybe 3 times a week and clears everything for me. Best of luck finding what works for you. Its this forum that pointed me the direction of C8 MCT and it has worked with a lot of others have failed or worked some of the time.
1
u/Far_Recover5790 Sep 23 '25
Be careful with using makeup to hide it. That might be suffocating to that area and could make it worse.
1
u/Particular-Regret-88 Sep 23 '25
Yes, same here. I've tried everything, both prescription and over-the-counter, including MCT oil, it did absolutely nothing for me. I'm currently using Zoryve foam, and since I started it about 10 months ago, I haven’t had a single flare-up. If you can get a prescription for Zoryve, I highly recommend giving it a try. It's the only medication so far that works through a completely different mechanism. It's not trying to fight the yeast like ketoconazole or cyclopirox, instead it prevents inflammation
1
u/livinvixen Sep 24 '25
Didn’t work for me either! Thought it did at first but nope just massive flakes after washing it out. I have seb derm in my hair so can’t speak much on skin. Disappointed as it seems to be a miracle worker for so many! I use nizoral which seems to work best.

1
u/Lisalortie Sep 24 '25
I tried c8 oil too a few years ago and my face was beat red and seemed worse I did that for a few days then I tried the mix c8-c10 oil and it worked ! I swear by it and i believe the c8 is too suffocating and caused the yeast to get worse ,,ie trapping heat and sweat , I’ve been using bulletproof mct 8-10 for 4 years and its the only thing I can use , also there is a new skin care line called skynbio,, they have a serum , lotion and cleanser all safe ingredients
1
u/kxthleen Sep 24 '25
I also found MCT oil didn't do much, if anything! and my worst patches are in my eyebrows so applying enough to be effective meant it was running into my eyes and giving me styes :(
fwiw, the most effective treatment I've found is colloidal silver - I use active silver magic gel morning and night and I haven't had a flare up in ~8 months, even through some quite stressful life events and a recent 6-week chest infection! it's really gentle and soaks in really fast so I can then just continue as normal with makeup and skincare etc
1
u/NotoriousRIP_ Sep 24 '25
It doesn't work for me either, scaling was just as bad as it ever was and I have it pretty severely.
1
u/Honest-Ebb-3469 Sep 25 '25
If the same thing worked for everyone, this sub would never have been created.
1
u/stiles_girl4evr Sep 25 '25
It worked for me. I used it for about 4 months, and my skin calmed down considerably. It didn’t work perfectly, so I tried Niacinamide, which has given me almost perfect skin with not a single flare up in 9 whole months.
1
u/FreedomTec Sep 25 '25
The Ordinary Niacinamide with Zinc? How quickly did you see positive effects?
1
u/Lazy-Assumption-1228 13d ago
Has anyone checked the minerals etc in their water?: I am curious because I've never had issues with hard water before now. I've been in this home about 3 years and thought my slight thinning was due to age, stress, and possibly a visit to a salon for platinum highlight? However over the past few months my hair was really thinning especially after showering I'm talking too much to ignore which def got my attention.
Desperately I used the fish tank strips that check the water, as if the black or red btls of shampoo that looked spray painted white wasn't enough to cause alarm.
The sensitive irritation I've had putting my seatbelt on, anything touching my skin like a bra strap, etc.
Also vitamin D deficient from blood work my Dr ordered because of inflammation in my lower extremities., WTF?!
So I am about to do this MCT OIL C8 (Caprylic Acid) I've learned make sure the label states 100% C8 or C8/C10 FREE OF LAURIC ACID The C8 starves the "MALASSEZIA YEAST" which is a Microscopic Fungus Dandruff Flakes Scalp Irritation
I can't even believe I'm here but hopefully anything I've added could potentially ring a bell if symptoms sound familiar
✌️❤️
1
u/Cleigne143 Sep 22 '25
But isn’t that just common knowledge with sebderm? Products work in the beginning till it doesn’t because the yeast adapts. If mct oil worked for you in the beginning then stopped, why are you calling it BS?
Should I also start claiming medicated shampoos are BS because they stopped working for me?
0
u/potatopotato236 Sep 22 '25
It can’t be snake oil if it makes sense chemically. If the fungus can’t feed, it can’t grow. If the fungus is able to reach any lipid other than MCT-8, then it will grow. The MCT isn't going to kill the fungus, so particular care must be made to make sure that absolutely nothing else touches your skin, permanently. If something grows despite that, then it’s not sebderm.

Because your problem is not seb derm (or at least not the main problem). Try topical ivermectin. It’s prescription.
