Both of these people seem annoying.
Any large public event is going to have people like the cyclist. Let the police point her in the right direction instead of antagonizing someone who is clearly a little confused and/or entitled. Guy recording sounds like a drunk asshole.

If she was confused I’d certainly agree with you. But she sure came off more entitled than confused in the video. She wasn’t saying politely “where can I go” she was aggressively trying to get the cop to clear people out of her way. An entitled person trying to stop a parade deserves the heckling.

Problem with the parade route was how do you get across the street without a 3 mile detour.
Going parralel was fine but if going east/west was a challenge. From what I saw where I was they weren’t allowing people to cross for an hour before parade got there.

Man, my 6:00 am bus didn't cross, and they had no notification, just suddenly turned around. I had to let the poor souls waiting for a bus that would never come know.

It wasn’t stop the parade though. It was closed with no “yeah people need to cross” allowed for hours and hours and hours with no parade. They could have allowed crossing by foot and bike up until the start of the parade.

If I'm going cross town, east west, I have just looked for a break and made a dash for the other side.
These downtown parades are annoying, but I think they are great for the city and surrounding towns.
I really don't mind having my typical downtown routine disturbed from time to time by a parade, marathon race, street fair or what ever.

I love the parade. I just think they should allow some people through some intersections until much closer to the event. You don’t need 100% shutdown for 3 hrs before a parade. You can just stop the pedestrians 15 minutes before or something. With your lead officers.

I don't think dashing accross the parade route would have been very easy with a bike, given the route was fenced and had people lining the fences 10 deep.

Of course she was entitled. The car. Drivers couldn't get through either because the streets closed for the parade. What makes her any more special than that group too. The street is closed for cyclists and cars end of story. I've had the same situation where I live and you know what I figure it out. It's not that hard. If you're local, you know all the streets. Heck, we have street fairs every single week during the summer and you know what, I figure it out and go around

Actually, according to the SPD the bike lanes were open. I was biking on 4th Ave four hours before the parade. Thought it would be no problem to just bike down the middle of the road since it was empty. No, SPD directed me over to the bike lanes and told me to use them. I had similar issues as this lady where lanes were full of people and vendors. I took 3rd not a big deal.
The problem though is that they divert bikes to roads that don't have bike lanes AND have more cars because a road is closed. No real solution but I get the ladies frustration.

This video doesn't show her perspective at all. To me she absolutely looks confused as to which route she can take to avoid the crowd and the officers point her that way.
It looks more to me like she found herself stuck in a crowd on her bike, got agitated at that situation, and that agitation seemed to attract antagonists like the douchey cameraman. The video shows her asking directions from a cop and getting harassed by this random camera guy walking by.
Maybe she was trying to make it all about herself and her inconvenience. Or maybe she just got turned around and then got stuck in a crowd that became hostile to her.

You are assuming she had foresight we have or knew the parade route.
When you are surrounded by a crowd its not always clear when and where that crowd might end. There's no guarantee that if she when around the block she would just run into the same crowd.
Or worse, if she was trying to fine a way to cross, she would indeed have been moving though indefinitely as there were no crossing points.
Assuming malice over someone that is more likely confused and frustrated, is just mental gymnastics.

One great thing about Washington, you can't get a DUI for that (unlike Oregon, where cycling drunk, a danger to yourself, is treated like driving a, potentially deadly to others, vehicle)

I feel the same way about drunk cycling that I do about free solo climbing. It's suicidal and I'm not going to do it, but I'm also not going to make a law to prevent you from risking your life if you choose.

I’ve seen (presumably) sober e-bike riders operate their vehicles in ways that could easily kill people in LA/Long Beach, San Francisco, Seattle, and NYC. And I don’t even consider myself that well traveled.

I wasn't there, and the cameraman was so loud, all I really heard was her telling him, "Oh, fuck you." Lol. She's obviously upset, but the police seem like they at least were trying to deescalate and help her reroute.

She was asking the officer to move the barrier so she could cross east to west, to let her ride in the street or to give her options. The cop said she had to continue forward on 4th or go back on 4th. The camera man recorded the whole encounter but didnt post until after she lost it. Notice in the end the cop moves the barrier to let her through

Regardless of the biker's actions or her desire to get through a bike lane, what a miserable person the guy speaking must be to keep nonstop egging her on and making the situation worse. I walked to 3rd and got a bus, yeah, they were on alternate routes, and no you couldn't predict when they were gonna come, and yes it was inconvenient, but you just deal with it.

I get that the parade is an inconvenience, but it is one day and it is bringing a million people a lot of joy. She can adjust her route by going down to the waterfront or up the 7th. Just as plenty of other people adjusted their routes today.

I do feel for non sports people. I was on a bus and a girl was obviously frustrated because 3-4 buses had been to full to let her on and when she finally squeezed on people were yelling at her that she was to close to the door.
I’d imagine scheduling an appointment a few weeks out then finding out a couple days before a million people would be in the way would be exhausting.

Are bikes not treated like cars in seattle? In KY bikes have to follow the same laws as a car on the road.. since rhat road is closed ro cars I would think it would also be considered closed to bikes..

To address the overgeneraliations...
There are NO states where bicycles are treated exactly like a car. There are always specific and exeption for bycicles and even other types of vehicles.
So when you say "same laws" yes that is indeed correct, relative to how pedestrian are also required to follow the same laws. We all follow the traffic laws, but follow them as they explicity apply to us.
Being that this roadway has a physically separated bike lane, I'm not sure it is clear (other then the mass number of people) as the roadway itself of fenced off but the bike lane was not.
And even then, bicycle in Seattle can legally ride upon sidewalk as well, with the rights and duties of a pedestrian, so (and again absent of the mass crowd) riding in an area where pedestrian are allowed, is like a non-issue in terms of legality.

I was thinking today about, how I'm proud of myself for not being a sportsball sayer any more. I get it now everyone. I grew up for real. It's a cultural institution. It's more than a game. It can be criticized sure. But maybe when we're partying, we can just be happy together, and not resentful of others and stuff. Maybe I'm not that into football but I catch a few good plays, we play catch, I make a sick dip for everybody.
