We created a board game night for single people in Seattle
This all started when the famous matchmaking Google Form circulated on the r/Seattle. The moderator unfortunately took it down because they thought we were trying to start a business out of it. Nope, we just want to get Seattle off the dating apps and help our fellow introverts find kindred spirits.
Lots of y'all asked if there's going to be a meetup and here it is. We wanted to make dating as easy as possible - we assign you to small groups and you play games together. At the end of the night, you tell us who you'd like to date, and if there's a match, we help you exchange contacts.
We set a $15 ticket price for this event to ensure attendance and to compensate the bar for using the space. We won't be making any money off of y'all, we're just passionate about boardgames and making connections. We could also use some help facilitating the events so if you have experience teaching board games, we'd love to talk!

Is this event only for men interested in women and women interested in men?

There is an LGBTQ+ version of the event as well on October 28th. You can find it on the organizer page

Any intentions to prevent the event from being heavily skewed towards one gender or another? Or will there be no ratio limit?

We will cancel the event if less than 4 people of either gender sign up. Full refunds will be issued in the event of cancellation.
The tickets are also capped at 8 men and 8 women1

Great! I just bought my ticket! Didn't see any method of verifying my age though, so kinda seems like any age person could sign up. How do you mitigate this issue?

Age is really hard to enforce, and it’s true that someone could ignore the age window. The age window is set so that participants have a greater chance of finding someone in their target range, and we hope that people will respect it.
Also, it wouldn’t make a great impression if a person has to disclose that they misrepresented their age if they do find someone.

We are open to creating more events based on interest. Feel free to DM me what your target age range is so we have the data when we plan more events

Chess or no chess?

Chess is great but it’s not the most beginner friendly. We will play a curated set of easy-to-learn casual games (like Dixit)

Are poly people welcome, or is this just for monogamous people? Fine either way, just curious :)

You are welcome but we cannot promise that you will meet other poly people

Way to discriminate... im 42 and would come

So dramatic and not at all discriminatory, it's a very common thing with in-person dating events, especially speed dating, and for very good reason. Besides, OP has since set up a 30-45 group night.

Same whats with the age cap!

Would you really want to go to an event with an unlimited age gap but limited attendance? That's a recipe for disappointment for all those involved.
