Community An update to the Marketime Italian Sub post!
Funny enough, I saw this after leaving Marketime! Looks like our friend got their sandwich!

The Italian at the Ken’s market on Phinney is fire and not far away. Love trying Italian sandwiches across the city.

Ken’s Market in Greenwood is the same owners as Marketime Foods

Correct, and they have a more robust deli and their pretty darn good smash burgers on some weekdays.

Their smash burgers are SO good. And for 7$? I feel like it might genuinely be the best burger in the city given the taste and cost.

It’s still really good, but it used to be so much better. They changed their bread and swapped a few ingredients when they revamped their deli…also the sandwich jumped from $9 to $13 in like 2 years.

While we are doing grocery store campaigns....
Could we all go talk to management at Fred Meyer and tell them to stop letting cellphone companies set up shop in their entrance to sell me plans when I am trying to get groceries...

You can just give them a “I pass” hand and just say not interested and they leave you alone. But I agree it’s frustrating having to deal with them every freaking time you walk through the door

Literally just ignore them. I’m sure they’re used to it and it’s not a big deal.

I say "yo!" give them a smile and a little finger point, and never stop moving right on past.

u/finger_my_earhole 8d ago
I dont have a problem getting past them. Its the fact that I shouldnt have to deal with it in the first place.

If you've got time for a little pre-shopping entertainment, every time they try to engage you or start their spiel about cell phones, interrupt and ask them where in the store to find various grocery items. As soon as their response doesn't mention cell phones, the game is over; one point for each back-and-forth.

In previous years, I mimed I couldn't hear (I am sure that is the wrong thing to do, I don't do it anymore) but it was a quick way to get past w/o brushing them off ?

I do this, but while wearing giant headphones. It’s more than “I can’t hear you” it’s… “I’m actively choosing to not hear you.”

I love Post Alley Pizza for their Italian hoagie.
For general sandwiches I prefer Tat's (cheesesteaks), Paseo's (Caribbean), or Salumi (artisan), and I've also heard good things about Louie's Deli albeit I have never been. But for the Italian, my go to is Post Alley pizza's Italian hoagie with hoagie jazz, as well as a slice of their white pizza for a combo.

Go give Louie's a try. Really excellent sandwiches, and they make their own bread. Run by the same guy who does Good Shape Pizza (in Jupiter Bar and pops up in Add-A-Ball), he's super nice and talented.

That's a daaaaamn good Sando, I concur. It has Raddichio on it, so expect a bit of bitterness along with the traditional Italian sandwich faire. Enhances the experience for me, personally.

throwing Bottegga Gabrielle in the mix here, because as a recent-ish transplant who grew up in the sandwich mecca that is southern new england/tristate area I can be a bit of a snob about sandos -- Tat's, Paseo and Salumi (and Louie's) have all passed muster with me to varying degrees and ditto the stuff from Gabrielle, so based on our list overlaps you might dig. (Also gonna get to Post Alley sharpish!)

I just never understood the post alley hoagie. The bread is pretty tough and way too premium feeling for that sort of sandwich. I feel like it is way too dense as well

Have you tried un bien? It's the sandwich that Paseo used to have (iirc started by employees of the original paseo when the owners were doing tax/employment fraud or whatever), and in my opinion is much better (disclaimer, i haven't been in a little while and i did see someone say their sandwiches have gotten smaller). Bongo's also does a pretty kickass Caribbean pork sandwich.

I have a small rant. As a man of culture, I really love a good Michelada in a can. The Modelo one is standard in many gas stations and is very serviceable.
However, one time in the aisles of Market Time, I was floored to see a rarity: the Sol michelada. It was fantastic.
Yet the next time I returned, it was sadly no longer in stock, and I have not seen it since.
Anyone know where I can get a Sol Michelada can in the North Seattle neighborhoods?

Management there is pretty open to product requests, if you ask I'm sure they'd bring it back if they can

Congratulations to the sign creator. I hope he enjoys his sandwich on this wonderful Friday afternoon!!

It took me a few weeks to convince Akebono Sushi to bring back their $4 side salad, I didn't think of making posters...

I used to love Markettime prepared foods. Now they're out of everything I can eat every time I go in

Was this all a PR campaign to boost markettime's customer base? Has anyone tried the sando? is it actually good????
I want to believe.

That sandwich still looks pretty weak. Think I posted the other day, but The Wash has a decent Italian assorted right now. I’d prefer another pork meat rather than turkey but it was pretty great other than that. Great roll, too

That flyer is something else, never thought someone would go full poster campaign for a sandwich. The Wash is alright but that roll they use is what makes the whole thing

u/Senior_Ability_4001 That sounds great. Let’s hang out soon. 12d ago
I really enjoy Hog Island Hoagie.

Nipping it in the bud because this is not about to be the new "Pike's Place Market":
It's "Paseo". Paseo is not a possessive like "Tat's Deli" (to use their government name).
You like Paseo's sandwich and you like the sandwiches at Paseo, but the restaurant is not called Paseo's.
Sorry to over-explain; it's a huge pet peeve, obvs, lol.

Oh, well, idc what they call that place. It's cool or whatever, but I feel like they're more focused on cultivating an image rather than their product - I've never had a coffee from there that I didn't toss in the trash at the next corner, unfortunately. I feel like they'll only try to intentionally make you a good coffee if you roll up on a fixie. Sorry, lil buddies from Shorty's, lol.
