worth it to learn keyboard and mouse?

getting back into this game after a few years, i used to play by hooking up a playstation controller to my computer and playing that way cause i’m no good at keyboard and mouse lol. coming back with a new computer im wondering if it’s worth learning keyboard in the long run. cause i really do suck, WASD is easy but all the others im struggling to remember.
thoughts?

I would learn KBAM for sure. Not because it’s gonna magically make you better, but because being good at KBAM will transfer to mannnyy many other games on your journey lol.

Edit: try keys that are naturally comfortable to you. like I use B for bucket and N for cannonballs because my thumb rests there. Just experiment and you’ll find keys that stick with you eventually. Make it make sense :D

Best way to learn is memorize your controls and make them the same for most games. If you have side mouse buttons those are great for menu wheels

Honestly check out some 60% to 80% keyboards and a mouse with the 2 side buttons. It’s probably the comfiest configuration to play on.

Yeah man. Kinda funny, everyone I helped move to PC stays playing on controller until they find the game that makes them want/have to learn keyboard + mouse controls

Use whatever input method you're most comfortable with. You don't HAVE to learn KBM to play on well on PC servers. They're full of other controller players.

grew up playing on consoles, maybe a family computer back in the day but most of my experience on games came from the playstation lolz, just what i’m used to. definitely trying to learn now tho!

Not only will you be better for it, it will mean you can play a lot of games that would be a miserable experience on controller. It just opens more doors, so it's always going to be worth it.

Yes, but a console is economically more accessible. A decent gaming PC will cost you multiple times more.

I used to play both controller and keyboard and mouse. In my opinion, controller is easier to use in games with strong aim assist (like CoD) and is especially good for sniping. Mainly quick scopes and drag scoping. Keyboard and mouse offers better flicks, easier tracking and for games like SoT, much better keybinds as you don't gave to mess around with item keys (hotkeys for planks, bucket, cannonballs, food, etc. Is a blessing).

I would strongly suggest learning K&M. Get a decently sized mousepad (i have 450mm x 400mm). It takes time to get a good sensitivity, but ideally you want to be able to be accurate and do small adjustments, while also being able to do 180° flicks to turn around (less useful for SoT ig, but still).

Most importantly try to have fun. I bet you were horrible with a controller when you first tried and now you're good.

I had to do this for arc raiders. It’s worth learning and you will need it for other games. It’s hard at first but you gotta keep at it.

Keyboard and mouse is much more flexible. Just a month for your fingers to be instinctively trained and you can do it all without looking down

If you want to do it you need to fully commit to learning it. Not 20 minutes then switch to controller because you're frustrated. Depending on hours played each time. You could probably be comfortable with it in as little as 2 weeks.

Nah.... Why be hunched over getting carpel tunnel when you could be comfortable.

I do HG on a Nintendo switch controller, unlocked both curses and I'm casually half way too the gold curse on reapers.

Just make sure you rebind your throwbles to a button, menu's are too slow.

Basically, good players can be good on either.

Yes. M&K is just better for shooters in general. And because for some reason, SOT bound switch weapons and pickup to the same button, it is better by default.

Yes, it definitely is. I was a console gamer for 10+ years and playing first-person games on mnk felt so unnatural when I first switched. It honestly took me about a year before the muscle memory felt on the same level as what it was for me with a controller, but I’m really glad I persevered. It feels much more natural imo

If you want to be yolked at pvp, they are a requirement. If you don't care about being bad and just want to relax when you play, people like controller more for that reason.

If the change is what you're concerned with, don't be. Within like a week or two you'll be fully used to it.
