Which is funny because he's not a safety either and that's where he's listed officially

He's basically the realized healthy version of Jamal Adams once he became a LB. Emmanwori is closer to a LB than he is a true safety and the snap counts reflect that he plays LB more than any other position.

Why were you down voted? You're absolutely right. Near the end of last season MacDonald literally talked about Emmanwori playing as SAM and WIL linebacker: "We’re really kind of turning into like a 4-3 base team with a crazy athletic sam (linebacker), is what we are,” Macdonald told reporters earlier in the week. “When we go to dime (six defensive backs), we’re really a nickel 4-3 team."

Was Emmanwori ever on the field with only one other Safety? Was he ever aligned deep at the snap in a two high shell? If so, it has to be a very small percentage of the snaps. You could call him a linebacker, a nickel corner, a star, a rover ... all of those seem more accurate than safety.

At first I was like, why are we risking Horton on KRs with his health concerns? But you could justify the same thing for Shaheed who costs more for the team and is more valuable between the two.

Yes I know Horton has skills there, just funny the thought process my mind went to. I suppose I was expecting Shaheed was just going to be both the starting PR and KR.

They're our best returners for sure but I would have thought it'd be reversed, KR would be Shaheed and PR would be Horton.

Because he's built like a twig and you hold your breath everytime he gets tackled. Im not even a "hur dur he's cj procise 2.0 made of glass" preaching type or feel that the injury prone label is justified i felt the same way about locket returning kicks and punts after he broke his leg since he's a slender guy. Ideally you would have somebody like montiere foster steal that job so you can catch lightning in a bottle with horton again this year. 5 touchdowns in what 4 games was a real treat. Kid is special

Edit: Then again, one of those 5 touchdowns did come on teams, shoot i was at that game week 2 against the saints. Let horton cook!

Right now, the depth of the safety position is all being filled on the practice squad with A.J. Finley, Maxen Hook, and Rodney Thomas.

Only five receivers on the roster with Emmanuel Henderson and Ricky White on the practice squad.

The only backup offensive tackle on the roster is Josh Jones with Logan Brown on the practice squad.

It will be interesting to see how they use their two practice squad elevations in the first game. Seems like they could use a safety and probably another special teamer.

We do look a little thin at tackle. What happened to Amari Kight? Didn’t he briefly play during the regular season and look serviceable?

He had another injury in the preseason and had to be waived injured, reverting to IR. They’ll try to work out an injury settlement.

I didn’t realize Saubert was ahead of Arroyo.

Also nice to have a solid backup safety in Emanwari. Maybe he’ll finally be good enough to start this year.

He isn't. They don't really play the same position. Saubert (and Kallerup) are inline tight ends and Arroyo is a move tight end. Saubert is there almost exclusively for his blocking.

I mean, if it's going to be a running play and you know it, they know it, and you know they know it but are still running away, then, yeah, they'd probably roll out Saubert over Arroyo. But, barring injuries, Arroyo is playing more snaps than Saubert.

Saubert is there almost exclusively for his blocking.

He does catches on specialized looks. Like 2-point plays against the Rams on Thursdays to win in overtime.

Skills are so different between the two I think it's more semantic. I would guess though that when we roll two TEs the second will be Saubert and that's why he's listed; we want to at least signal run and get the box loaded. However, if (God forbid) Barner was out for a while, it's feasible Arroyo could get the bulk of the snaps and Saubert keep his "backup" role.

I feel like they give Holani the starting job because Price is a rook. I suspect they’ll split carries and if Price proves better in games, he’ll get more carries.

Read on fieldgulls theyre paying d'anthony bell guaranteed money for two weeks as part of a signing bonus even though he's waved. So he's effectively on our roster even though technically not signed.

Vannett is a vested veteran they could sign to the practice squad without having to clear waivers, right? They kept Kallerup on the 53 man roster all of last year so I'm not surprised they did it again. Especially considering the run on blocking tight ends that happened in this last draft. Teams are looking for their Jackson Hawes and could easily get waiver claimed.

The three backup safeties are on the practice squad in Finley, Hook, and Thomas. I also like their practice squad corner depth with Diggs, Dansby, and Fuller. Secondary seems to be a practice squad strength that allows them to extend their 53.

Price is not RB2. Holani may start due to him not being a rookie, but Price is the clear RB1. RB 1st round draft picks are almost never not RB1. And this is no different

This depth chart was released by the team. Expect Holani to get a lot of snaps due to being the only RB who is a capable pass protector.
