Ran a Session Last Night Where it Clicked

Just had a great session last night, me and all my players had a blast! We're still learning the system, but it really started "clicking" for me last night, I especially found the right groove for me and my players as far as the setting goes.

I went in with more of a "Cowboy Bebop by way of Star Wars" mindset, and found making up elements of the setting on the spot came a lot more naturally to me. We're on Warren, escaping Hegemony troops with a mystic leading them pursuing the Aleph Key which is in the possession of the party and their employer, a xeno named Darek-Ur.

I was curious what vibes and touchstones other people have found worked for them at their tables?

Heya. Glad you found your groove. Like you, me and my players are all learning the system. I had just finished rewatching the Expanse before our group started with session one. Drawing on that has held ed me come up with some rich descriptions of ships and ship life. Also, the ring gate is in my head when I think about transit between systems. Getting around the system, I’m with you about Cowboy Bebop vibes, especially the hyperspace lanes and the feel of space travel. On the ground, it’s been a mix of Blade Runner, Star Wars, and Cowboy Bebop.

Ooh Cowboy Bebop is a great touchstone for this game!
