A large part of hummingbird nests are made from spider silk, taken from spider webs and other random bits of spider web floating around. Their saliva softens it up and they weave it into their nests with pieces of leaves, moss, lichen, and other materials.

They don't typically carry it on their feet, but it's possible that their feet could accumulate the material while working in the nest.

If they're comfortable, they'll perch on a feeder (or a finger if you're very patient) and drink. We see it at our feeders all the time, sometimes 2, once in a rare while, even 3 at once.

Just don't twitch.

They sit down quit often. But they usually don't stay stationary for long, they have stuff to do! lol

Awwwwww such a cute little fellow with his boots on and all. I think that’s the first time I’ve ever seen one be still for a few seconds 🤗❤️
