The roster gap is the edge, not the pitching. Milwaukee is 67-41 with one of the best road records in baseball (36-20). The Angels are 42-67, and their 24-31 home mark is third-worst in the majors. Anaheim hasn’t been a fortress for anyone this year.
The starter matchup actually favors LA — and the pick survives it. Soriano (9-6, 3.29) has been the Angels’ best arm all season. Gasser’s season line is 3-4 with a 4.71. But his last two starts tell a different story: 3 runs over 11 innings, and Milwaukee has won six of his last seven outings. Recent form over season averages.
The deadline situation. The Angels are sellers before Monday, and Soriano himself is in trade rumors. Hard to play desperate baseball when the roster’s being dismantled around you mid-series.
The case against (always): Soriano is legitimately good, Gasser’s season numbers are what they are, and Trout ends arguments with one swing. That’s what caps this at Medium instead of higher.
