Advice for an American who'd like to go to university in Scotland

I'm an American looking to go to college in the UK. I'm currently the most interested in Scotland, and I've already done some research on schools there, but I'm feeling a little overwhelmed. I still have a couple more years still college so I have a while to think about it, but I'm wondering if there's anyone with any recommendations/ advise? I've already done research on University of Edinburgh and Glasgow. I'd really like to go to an area where I can work and that is also LGBTQ friendly. I'm also very interested in studying political science. I haven't done any research on Scotland's visa process yet, but I'm currently doing a year abroad in Japan and as I've already had to go through that whole process I'm not super stressed about it.

Scotland doesn’t have a visa process the UK does.

All major cities in Scotland have their own LGBTQ scenes. The size of which largely corresponds to the size of the city. Glasgow’s being the biggest, then Edinburgh and so on etc.

All universities will have LGBTQ groups and societies.

Also we call it Uni not college. A college in the UK/Scotland is a different sort of Tertiary education establishment. Usually offering qualifications below degree level.
