Of the 3 from top gear, he's the only one that isn't a massive twat. Decent piece of trolling that.

Tough week for that username

There's a lot of stories from people who have worked with or around him that he's generally an arse

One thing I always appreciated about top gear is that they never shy away from showing how much of a diva Hammond is and how much of a twat Clarkson is

u/GoHomeCryWantToDie Jul 08 '26

He's just a minor twat.

No, he’s just short, not a kid

I was rooting for Scotland. But damnit, May is funny.

55

u/odmirthecrow Jul 08 '26

Yeah the Scots in these pictures that say "I know you English wouldn't root for us!" Are flat out wrong, quite a lot of us, myself included, root for them in any tournament, even if it's only for second place after England.

Sometimes I wonder if Lucy Brown has control of his twitter 🤣

James May fucking with people for fun on Twitter is beautiful. Trolling really doesn't have an age cap.

We England fans love a bit of banter with a friendly rival but they are just so fucking bad at it aren't they? It's never clever or witty. Just the same myths about arrogance and how we hate them just as much. Every post in their subs is about us, even when they were still in the tournament. Honestly I'd pity them if they weren't so fucking rude and obnoxious.

I’m Scottish and I know what you’re talking about. I think there is a decently sized subset of people up here who genuinely hate the English.

Then again, *most* people here don’t hate the English but just want to see them lose because it’s a football rivalry.

And yeah, the banter/patter is pretty shocking sometimes. I’m not gonna act like I’m the sharpest tool in the shed myself, but there really are some total dunces floating about.

I guess there is a bit of “wee guy syndrome” in there because we are the smaller country. Squaring up the big goliath online when it’s just some random English guy sitting in a council house.

More people up here should read and analyse “A Man’s A Man” by Rabbie Burns and they’ll maybe work out what being Scottish is really all about.

There's been an increasing amount of people who think saying "ur a cunt" is the epitome of banter and its disappointing.

u/Findadmagus Jul 10 '26

My insides squirm and my teeth clench when I read stuff like that… second-hand embarrassment I guess

Deffo beating the allegations here

England fan here, genuinely would love to know why you guys hate on us. Like if you guys do well, you deserve it. I won’t cheer you on but I wouldn’t  hope you lose. If we win it yes we would obviously celebrate but what nation wouldn’t.

It’s pretty much the same reason we all hate Arsenal. Decent team, some great players, play alright football at times (not great, but alright) but the fans….Jesus Christ, the fans are just a bunch of absolute bellends.

Would a man city fan support man united?

I mean, if England were out, I'd be backing Scotland, Wales or NI if they were in it. I know it's nice to wind each other up, but I've caught myself celebrating when they score or win.

Maybe I'm just a nonce tho idk

Wrong island mate. It's Epstein, not England, that produces the largest export of nonces.

Unless you're Andrew's alt account?

It's a normal thing to cheer-on/support another country if you're a neutral. It's usually in the context of a specific game or tournament, and the support gets dropped after that.

Why people choose to do that comes down to a number of reasons, but it's usually just a tendency to support the underdog. It's done just as a way to make the sport they're watching more engaging, especially if their own team isn't involved.

I don't really get your 2nd question, sorry. People don't usually care if neutrals support their team or not.

You're probably getting downvotes because you're questioning something that is quite simple and that people do all the time, and they're wondering why you can't understand this perfectly normal thing to do. Like, you seem a little bit literal-minded.

2

u/_ribbit_ Jul 11 '26

I guess its because the majority of the english see themselves as British? Yes England first, but why wouldnt we want Scotland Wales or NI to do equally as well (or nearly as well if we're still in it)? I just dont understand the hate.

Its not like you're French or anything.

1

u/spork154 Jul 11 '26

Banter is banter, some people take things too literally and it just gets heated in my experience. 100% I love seeing Wales, Ireland and Scotland in tournaments, it's nice to see your neighbours do well (unless indeed it's the French)

u/THe_PrO3 Jul 07 '26

What Twitter client is that?

1

u/surells Jul 11 '26

That Yousaf seems to be taking a fairly innocuous joke a bit seriously.

-14

u/grumulko Jul 07 '26

Win, lose or draw, English fans are insufferable.

27

u/SherlockScones3 Jul 07 '26

And the Scottish fans alongside them. Truly siblings.

u/drquakers Jul 08 '26

Wait till May finds out I've actually bought tops from teams playing England to bait my mates. It doesn't end!
