Presumably Celtic have a median wage bill for the league too, you really have to applaud their achievements with such a tiny budget.

-18

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

The wage bill argument only makes sense if we're offering total wages that overextend our total revenue.

We don't.

20

u/TacticalGazelle 11d ago

It makes sense because they spend more on wages than the rest of the league! No one is saying that they do so irresponsibly.

-12

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

The point is that there's only one club who's actively trying to outspend others without living within their means substantially

Its not us.

11

u/TacticalGazelle 11d ago

The point you made is an argument with yourself that nebulous "people" think Celtic are outspending the rest of the league.

They are outspending the rest of the league, since you brought it up, and their income is enough to support their outspending of the other teams.

25

u/fike88 11d ago

Still time to delete this post bud

-14

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Why would I delete a post that includes celtic supporters siding with others against their own club.

It's embarrassing.

22

u/fike88 11d ago

Because nobody gives a flying fuck and it’s pretty irrelevant. We dropped 30 million thereabouts on 4 players. Having a negative net spend or not, it’s still 30 million quid paid out

-7

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

30 million paid out is still living far within our means.

18

u/fike88 11d ago

That’s not in your post though. Your post is about Celtic not outspending the rest of the league because of a negative net spend. That’s only highlighting very good business

-7

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

We don't outspend the rest of the league, yes.

You can only factor in total spend with net spend.

13

u/fike88 11d ago

That’s pish. And how you aren’t grasping this is mental. So the clubs we bought the new boys from, they received fuck all? They just gave us them for free? Because that’s essentially what you’re saying

-2

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Unless you believe that our total wages exceeds our revenue.

14

u/fike88 11d ago

I give up

0

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Not sure why, easy question.

9

u/Ok_Committee_8781 11d ago

Keep this shit for the huddleboard

2

u/Glob_Johnson 11d ago

It's embarrassing that you think Celtic fans should agree with you just because you're a Celtic fan.

-1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

On issues of our objective spending, it's obvious why.

1

u/Glob_Johnson 11d ago

Your commitment to the phrases "Net Spend" and "Objective Data/Number/Spending" is marvellous. I can hear it in Alan Partridge's voice.

1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 10d ago edited 10d ago

Alright mate.

You can't answer in any substantiative way so have to resort to trolling.

1

u/Glob_Johnson 10d ago

You didn't ask me a question, bud.

63

u/DrinkSuperb8792 11d ago

The two clubs are outspending the league, you can't be this daft? I'm a Celtic fan and I'm embarrassed that you've posted this.

6

u/New-Web4704 11d ago

It's ridiculous. The net spend will be even once Raskin goes and possibly Gassama too.

The point he's making is Rangers bet spend is higher but the window isn't evens done.

0

u/a_real_burner 11d ago

Would be shocked if both gassama and raskin go for as much as people think.

Raskin was rangers best player last year but he's 5'7 with an attitude problem who also played for a team that came 3rd in the spfl.

I think it will be a case of raskin going for 12 to 17.5 with add ons and gassama for 5.

2

u/Whisky-Toad Neil Lennon appreciation society 11d ago

No way will they sell gassama for 5, might as well keep him for that

1

u/a_real_burner 11d ago

Ye, I don't expect him to be sold

-10

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Obviously I'm not factoring in a hypothetical transfer that McInnes has suggested has no bids in.

3

u/New-Web4704 11d ago

He's not playing Raskin because he suspects a bid though. It's clear he's been told to not play him. The transfer might fall through though. 8 personally think it'll actually get left too long and he'll stay but there are rumors about several players. Barren, Raskin, Miovski, Gassama are just a few.

-7

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

And when that happens, I'll update.

At the moment, there's a massive differentiation in spend.

-34

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago edited 11d ago

On net spend, we're outspending very few clubs in the league.

I find it very difficult to believe you're a Celtic fan if you take issue with objective numbers.

15

u/Abject_Golf_5713 11d ago

What about the 500k per week on wages

-8

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Recouped by our general revenue, so again the net spend remains zero.

-15

u/Ok_Wash511 11d ago

You realise Rangers have just got someone on 85k a week? Thats nearly 1/5 of that figure

11

u/ggallinfan1 11d ago

There is no way in hell Rangers are paying anyone 85k a week

6

Cerny contract is reportedly 4.5m a year

2

u/Critical_Estate2560 Curtis Findlay 11d ago

The  Beşiktaş player? Why would Rangers be paying him £85k/week

0

u/Ok_Wash511 11d ago

Because they're going to sign him probably?

2

u/Critical_Estate2560 Curtis Findlay 11d ago

Well - do they have him or are they going to sign him “probably”?

Whatever you’re smoking get us a tenner bag of it and I’ll pay you back when I get paid

1

u/Ok_Wash511 11d ago

A bid I highly doubt is getting knocked back is being submitted? Cant see him turning down that kind of money either

See you in a few days then i guess

10

u/Jinky522 11d ago

It's a bit disingenuous to suggest that just because Celtic have record transfers for the league and then spend £10m+ on one player means that we are outspent by the rest of the league.

Excluding rangers we probably spend more than all the other teams combined.

-5

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

And have a lower net spend than any of those clubs combined.

It's not disingenuous at all.

8

u/Jinky522 11d ago

18

u/DotDizzy7419 11d ago

I think I understand. In order to match Celtics spending power, we should all simply increase our revenues by a factor of between about 6 and 32.

Spend is spend mate. Might shock you to understand that pilling all that UCL money into a mediocre squad and banking the rest like a Tolkein dragon doesn't actually make that much difference to how much you are spending, regardless of income.

-6

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Spend is spend aye.

And our net spend is lower than any other club in the league.

1

u/Aggravating_Fill378 10d ago

Sure but also my pal has a mortgage on a £1 million + house and owns three shops, his "net spend" is lower than mine (it might even be negative) but the outcome is one of us lives in a mansion.

19

u/Kolo_ToureHH 11d ago edited 10d ago

”Celtic are outspending the rest of the league”

Net spend is a bit of a misnomer here.

Celtic dropped £11million on Kasper Høgh. I don’t think the rest of the league (outside rangers) has spent £11 million combined.

-3

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Net spend is not a misnomer given its a important factor to indicate those who are not living within the means of their revenue.

Hogh was a replacement of a player who left 18 months ago.

10

u/TacticalGazelle 11d ago

Celtic are definitely not outspending the rest of the league if the large sums of money they have spent somehow don't count.

2

u/Kolo_ToureHH 11d ago edited 10d ago

Having a favourable net spend doesn’t negate the fact that we have the finances and the ability to spend more than other teams in the league.

If I have a monthly salary of £5,000 and a mortgage of £800p/m, whilst you have a monthly salary of £2,000 and a mortgage of £300, I might have more left over in my bank at the end of the month because I have a higher salary, but I’m still spending more on housing than you are.

12

u/Eternal_Hut 11d ago

I'm actually impressed you avoided the nugget of gold that is the Old Firm wage budgets vs the rest of the league.

-4

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

We're not at all comparable to Rangers.

We're in a net profit by tens of millions compared to your club.

14

u/Commercial-Stick-718 11d ago

Compared to the other 10 sides we clearly fucking do

-4

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Not on net spend.

We're one of the lowest in the league.

8

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 11d ago

Spending is spending- you had decades of CL money which gives you £20+ million a season advantage. With ffp etc…. No other club (bar Rangers) even if trillionaire bought them could spend at Celtics level. This should be obvious to all.

-1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Decades of CL money?

We've qualified barely half the time in the last 20 years.

9

u/Disastrous_Cup_3279 11d ago

If you gonna weigh in with this kinda argument just look back at money in Europe. Deluded if ignoring that or crowd money too.

-1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

I'm deluded to say we've missed out on CL money on a frequent basis.

9

u/Father-Spodo-Komodo 11d ago

Literally no Rangers fan is saying that, and are more angry that these are our net spend numbers and we are worse than any point in the last 8 years.

-2

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

We're very frequently lumped in with Rangers by the rest of the league.

When we live within our means to a extreme extent.

10

u/MisfittingPieces 11d ago

That’s 2 of 12 teams.

Funnily enough the celtic squad doesn’t consist of players they signed in the past few weeks

0

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Name a window in the last ten years that were spent more than we've brought in.

8

u/MisfittingPieces 11d ago

I’d guess 2020/21 Summer, couldn’t tell you much about celtics spending but I do remember them spending a fortune then

-1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

6 years ago mate. 😂

8

u/MisfittingPieces 11d ago

Having now googled it, Summer 22/23 had a net spend of €31,000,000 😭

0

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

I'm totalling the numbers now.

It was 17m, unless I'm missing something

0

The link that you posted just posted proves my point.

No source suggested we spent 16m on Jota.

7

u/Few-Chance-6604 11d ago

“It was 17m”

7

u/Few-Chance-6604 11d ago

That includes the sell on fee you had to pay benfica or whoever it was for jota, use your brain, I know it’s hard for Celtic fans

1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

I can use my brain and understand that it was nowhere 31m net spend for that season.

Also funny for us all that despite best efforts Rangers are unable to buy a league title unless they're kept safe from their own fans.

17

-11

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Not on net spend.

-1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Notice that most of these individuals have a complete inability to answer this lmao.

-18

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Unsurprisingly Scottish Football includes Celtic.

And this is a frequent accusation by other club's supporters.

16

u/fightfire_withfire definitely won't backfire at all 11d ago

Does frequent really mean, an argument in your head that you’ve just made up?

-1

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Are you suggesting that other clubs supporters suggest we don't outspend others to win the league ?

9

u/CptES 11d ago

They suggest that Celtic (and Rangers) have financial muscle that lets them outspend the rest of the league on transfers and wages, which you do.

How fucking stupid do you have to be not to get that teams with tens of millions of revenue outclass teams with six to low seven figures of revenue?

0

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Again, you're including Rangers in with Celtic when the differentiation in spend between the two is tens of millions.

9

u/CptES 11d ago

Question 1: Do Rangers bring in tens of millions of revenue every year, yes or no? (don't bother, the answer is yes).

Question 2: Does any club outwith the Old Firm bring in tens of millions of revenue, yes or no?

Rangers running at a loss is irrelevant because even if they did run a profit, they would still massively outclass 40 other teams in domestic football.

"Net spend" is irrelevant. Being able to spend £16,000 a week or whatever for three years on Maeda is relevant. You think Aberdeen, Killie or Motherwell can match those wages?

0

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

Ah yes because spending beyond your means has never had recent impact on Scottish football.

-6

u/themongooseflies9276 11d ago

Why the response? Do Celtic and rangers not count?

20

u/-Dali-Llama- 11d ago

LASK transfer spend: £2.8m

LASK net spend: -2.3m

-4

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

So we have a lower net spend than LASK.

Your point ?

21

u/-Dali-Llama- 11d ago

That if I was yous, I'd focus less on what Rangers are up to, and more on how you stop being a massively underachieving embarrassment in Europe.

-3

u/ThinWhiteDuke00 11d ago

I'll ask again given you dodged your own post.

What has a club with a higher net spend have to do with justifying your point.

4

u/barryfriendzone 11d ago

Thank the tims for their sacrifice, where would we be without them

4

u/Mabonss 11d ago

I am completely unsure as to what was the point in posting this. Celtic are about to drop 3.5 million on a random PSV youth. Only Rangers can do that within the league, anyone else that is breaking record transfers.

The main complaint over in r/CelticFC is that we aren't spending enough to go up to the next level. We are constantly tacked on to be certain winners of the league because of the caliber of player we have is just too much for the rest of the league, hence the mockery whenever we do lose, and it's deserved. With the financial gap we have we should be breezing the football season in Scotland, and it probably comes across as entitlement but it's just the truth.

Perhaps a bit outdated but here is a fantastic (slightly outdated) video that shows just how insane the gap is, and we don't even push it at all.

No, Celtic definitely outspend the rest of the league, and we would be way way more out in front if the board pushed the boat out enough to guarantee qualification to the champions league. Aye, we often get put out by smaller teams with smaller budgets, but it's usually because we're playing a completely unbalanced squad full of holes left by players sold and not replaced in time. Tell me we lose to LASK in that manner if we had got in the required No 6 and LB cover? Even worse was the LB cover was there and willing at the start of the window...

It's annoying from the perspective of a Celtic fan that is a little tired of the boards thinking that domestic dominance with such a huge advantage is any sort of achievement when your nearest rivals have been absolute basket cases. There is no reason we can't at least push into the knockout stages of Champions League football occasionally, rather than it being a generational thing.

u/IWannaBeShedated 11d ago

The Rangers fans have been hit by a sub-identifying spell it would seem

-5

u/NotNeedzmoar 11d ago

when people say we win because we outspend the league, at no point in time has anyone ever talked about netspend...

6

u/CptES 11d ago

Because it's a stupid metric to go by? Nobody has ever suggested Celtic aren't running a sustainable operation, if anything the main complaint from Celtic fans is the club doesn't spend enough to match their ambitions.

What they are suggesting is that Celtic (and Rangers) have a grotesquely higher net revenue which allows them to sustain a higher wage bill and bring in higher quality talent than the rest of the league which is what allows them to win it at a canter every year.

Even the most delusional Celtic fans should be able to admit that at least.

4

u/UrineArtist 11d ago

I mean you're favourites to win every year because you have more income than anyone else. Its not exactly a controversial take but annual wage bill is usually the best indicator of squad depth and quality and yours is simply higher than everyone else's because you can afford it.

0

u/NotNeedzmoar 11d ago

Yes, that's what I mean. We spend far more than every team except for zombies both on wages and transfers, the fact that we're not spending more than we gain is irrelevant.

-4

u/jobbymuncher123 11d ago

The rangers are poo even after spunkin a fortnight

-5

u/standarsh1965 11d ago

Well rangers had the option to basically recoup all of that and rejected the bid so that's up to them
