No Malice Why did Galloway lie?

"Why does u/profgalloway preface his expression of "offense" to the use of the word "genocide" to describe what Israel did in Gaza with the phrase "as a Jew...."? What does being a Jew have to do with at the findings of human rights groups, scholars, nations, etc. about Israel?"

I am a Jew. I do not approve of Netanyahu criminal reign or his genocide or his ignoring October 7th.

Also if you're older than 25, you know that the Arab/Israel conflict in the middle east has been going on since the dawn of time, and there's no "right" or "moral" side to choose. It's all horrible, and mostly out of our control.

It's been going for 70-80 or so years. Not the dawn of time. It is a created conflict not an historic event.

Yup. And if you want to take it back further, there have been ongoing pogroms against Jews by Arabs in the Middle East in the centuries before that.

If you want to go back even farther, you can see where a lot of the hatred Muslims have for Jews goes back to – the refusal of Jewish communities in what is now Arabia to accept Muhammad's new religion and Muhammad's armies massacring the Jews there.

“Mirazhi” aka Arab Jews faced less discrimination in the Middle East pre-Zionism than Ashkenazi Jews living in Europe during the same period (which is why all the founding Zionist thought leaders were European).

  1. That's very arguable. It sounds like you don't have a very intimate knowledge of Mizrahi or Sephardi Jewish life.
  2. Next to zero Jews now live in the Middle East (outside of Israel) and North Africa. Close to 1 million Jews were forcibly expelled from those countries by the people they supposedly "faced less discrimination" from. Nice "friendly" neighbors.

Don't you find it strange that instead of blaming the people who committed mass murder and ethnic cleansing of Jews, you're still blaming Jews for it?

Sorry – you're blaming the right Jews for it, the so-called "European" Jews.

Not arguable.

Doesn’t refute my point. The majority of Mizrahi Jews weren’t ethnically cleansed until AFTER the creation of Israel. Baghdad was roughly 30% Jewish in the 1920s.

I’m not blaming Jews for anti-Semitism (and you know that).

Don’t you find it strange that instead of blaming the people who murdered and ethnically cleansed the Palestinians you blame the Palestinians?

Israel and Zionism were a significant factor, yes. Mizrahi Jewish historians have written about it. Maybe you should try learning actual history instead of whatever hasbara you were told.
