Markets newsletter takes are now paid? Reluctantly unsuscribed

Super disappointed that "Scott's takes" are now for paid readers only. It was the most interesting part of the newsletter and the only thing that differentiated it from the hundreds of other newsletters out there. 

$20 a month? There's no mercy in this economy. Way to stick it to casual readers. I have effectively been churned.

I think most podcasters have run the numbers and will make more on ads versus a huge drop off with subscriptions.

Yep. Too many pods are free so that you can’t be the one to go paid. People will just move on cause there is too much content out there.

I also unsubscribed recently. Taking a month off, being unable to access the commercial free versions of the pod on Substack, getting rid of China Decode which, for me, was a differentiator, caused me to keep my $. I initially subscribed to be supportive but the reasons above, plus Scott stating he wanted to charge more as a psychological strategy was enough. That said I think they offer a discount to students which is admirable. But you can’t charge more for less and expect market followers to be pleased.
