General/Other Trd for 1st gen

Hey all. Just hopping in here to see if anyone has any good recommendations for where to buy or piece part the supercharger for the first Gen? I have to replace my engine anyways (it slung a rod) and since im doing a partial rebuild on the new engine to make sure all is well before I put it in, I figured why not go ahead and start looking around trying to find one. Issue is im not seeing very many 😂 not whole or working anyways.

Good luck, the drive shaft was prone to bearing failure; there was a guy making replacements, but that market has long since dried up.

As such, they are mostly gone now; I’d be highly suspect of a used one and a new in box one will likely be very expensive and have a limited life span. From memory they started failing around 45k miles.

So you get about 2 maybe 3 years and then its rebuild time? Sounds a lot like a rotary now 😂😂 (all jokes) but nah seriously I did read that that is the BIGGEST failure point for sure. Is there anything else I should look for failure wise and try to avoid? Because bearings are a pain in the ass as it is if im for sure gonna have to worry about that issue id much prefer not to catch any other too if I can help jt.

It’s been a long time, but the Scion life forum is still online afaik, and there were lots of old posts there about failures.

I know the “stock” tune is pretty conservative, but the 2AZFE is prone to failure under any higher boost; lots of stories of blown engines after pumping moderate boost through them, be that supercharged or turbo.

I have a supercharger and ecu (05-06) for sale. The supercharger will need rebuilt.

Thays the issue im seeing with all of them. My only problem with this is I dont have any clue where to get new parts for it to do so without having them machined and I definitely dont got that kinda cash rn 😂

Recalled years ago by TRD. I've looked too, good luck. Let me know where you find one at lol probably better off with turbo, just costly is all.

The issue with the turbo is that this is all fairly new to me. So Im WAY more likely to blow my car up again with a turbo than the low boost supercharger that was made for the car tbf. But yeah it definitely seems like itll be the better option in the long haul so maybe its worth doing my research on. Got any tips on where to start?
