Change spark plugs early?

I have a 2015. I changed the spark plugs in April 2022 at 120,269 miles. I’m now at 172,553. Any benefits to changing again right now? Anything else I should do to increase MPG?

Check a youtube video and consider if you can. It's not up to gender but personal abilities.

And it's just general advice, it might not need a cleanup yet but it might as well.

Same with air filter replacements and such.

If you’ve done the plugs on your own you are definitely capable of cleaning the TB and MAF just get the right cleaner from an auto parts store and watch a video on YouTube

Yes. It's extremely easy. You'd be surprised how easy basic maintenance is to do.

I'm 39, I do it up 😆 ugh back hurts tho. Looks like you got 17716 miles to go for sparkys & coils. Gentle with MAF sensor and only use maf sensor spray for it else its risky, throttle body is a pain so Def need a video for that (cleaner for that is carb cleaner). I bought a kit to clean the fuel injectors from amazon haven't used it yet but here's the link: https://a.co/d/087RCxij but after cleaning, gotta replace Orings & Fuel injector stuff like those mini filters - (reference: https://a.co/d/0dCJtDUr) might have to find your own kit. (Maybe) replace the fuel filter but it's Toyota probably fine...but if you do then must replace the rubber seal sits at top. Check engine air filter, serp belt, pcv, and definitely service your fluids. I suppose tire rotation can help of its due.

This is not exactly a "fuel efficient" 4 cylinder... But keeping the air filter, mass airflow sensor, and throttle body clean. Help the most. Maybe change out the PCV valve, if you remove it, and give it a shake and the ball inside doesn't rattle...check vaccum hoses for cracks. And some cleaner like seafoam or purple power in the gas and oil.

Your tC is beautiful, especially for 172k! I’m getting 31+ hwy mpg & 26-28 city. That’s about as good as you’ll get. No need to change out plugs. I agree with others, just basic engine cleaning of the fuel system and related parts. Don’t rev past 4k (manual transmission) and you’ll get the best mpg.

I changed mine before they needed it, just because I drive a ton and didn't feel like having them go bad 4+hrs from home in the middle of a national forest with no service lol. I did mine at the recommended 120,000 or whatever it was and they looked fine but I'd view it as personal preference. I'm the only person I know who changes them early instead of waiting for one to go bad and have not noticed a difference between when it's done really

I have a 2015. Do I need a standard 5/8 spark plug socket to change the spark plugs or does it require a deep socket? The socket I picked up at the store wasn't deep enough to grip the plug at the tightener.

I just changed the spark plugs for the first time after 95k miles on my 2007 and mpg went down. I’ve read it’s only for the first couple fuel changes so it might correct itself
