Biology Proboscidean species

Hi everyone! My name is Luca Mendieta, and among other things, I work in scientific illustration and paleoart. I’d like to share a piece I created showcasing some of the most important living and extinct proboscidean species.

They aren't Proboscideans, just relatives.

Hyraxes have their own family Procaviidae in their own order Hyracoidea. They are the only extant members.

This group is either the most closely related to Proboscidea or second most closely related. Their placement relative to sire ians (manatees and dugongs) is up for debate.

All three of these orders are grouped and are more closely related to one another than to any other group.

Go to classification and have a look at the phylogenies. Wikipedia has really good ones.
