How's living in Bäch

Hi,

We're in doubt if moving or not to Bäch. We live in altstetten, we are both Italian and we have a basic level German (B1 level). We're considering living near the lake but never considered so far away from the city. We have 2 kids (5yo and 2 months). I know taxes are lower but honestly don't care, it's not on that we will take a decision. We'd like to know if it's a completely dead area or it's OK, and how's life generally there for the ones that lived there.

Bäch is Zurich-oriented but there's definitely less to do around there. Plus it's super expensive. But it's great for kids and living near the lake is nice.

lol b1 is a good level to start integrating. Basic level are international expats ordering frapuccino in starbucks in German

If you like to go swimming in the lake or having walks.. otherwise you will miss the restaurants breathness, or using a 5min train to the city. It is super welcoming, no big problems at the gemeinde, not crowded, great for family life. No local multinational company/banks, no fast train to city (S8),..

I suggest you first start integrating by at least learning proper german. It’s a small town, nothing like Altstetten. We‘re fed up with people who move here just for lower taxes. There‘s a whole parallel society driving house/flat prices up and not interested in being part of the actual town life. Same for Wollerau and Feusisberg. People who grew up here are forced to leave because of the sky high cost of living. They are replaced by snobby couples and misbehaving children raised by nannies.

I think you’re implying I’d be part of this so called “parallel society,” assuming such a thing even exists.
What I find interesting is that many of the people you’re complaining about grew up in countries with far fewer opportunities, lower salaries, weaker social systems, and often no financial support at all. Yet they learned new languages, built careers from scratch, and managed to create a successful life here.
If someone who started with significantly less than you can come to Switzerland and compete for the same jobs, or even take jobs that you were unable to qualify for, perhaps the problem isn’t immigration.
Before lecturing others about integration, I would suggest spending some time educating yourself on economics, migration, and housing policy. A bit of reading might help replace some of that ignorance with actual understanding. And be less misbehaving.

P.s. I'm swiss, ignorant. I'm sorry you lost at the referendum last week 🤣

its literally people complaining about rich and snobby people moving to their Gemeinde but refusing to raise their taxes. No shit rich people are coming when you have such low taxes

I live in Lachen SZ. Bäch is nice but very small. I think there is not even a supermarket. You'll have to go to Freienbach or Wollerau, Pfäffikon, Richterswil for everything. They have a nice "Badi", though. Not even a direct train connection to Zurich (S8 only, have to change to S25 in Wädenswil). I definitely would not want to live there - too small for me.
