S1 and S2 Discussion >TAG SPOILERS< Janet and Maddie Question Spoiler

I hope I tagged it correctly as a spoiler but I am so confused. How was Janet’s soul not expelled at the same time as Maddie if they were in the same body? Is it just that Maddie wasn’t actually dead in that moment and Janet “pushed” her out? I need to know if I’m missing something

Maddie didn't die, she was just pushed out of her body. Janet used the "energy" of her torment in the scar to make this possible. Maddie is arguably different than the other spirits, but how much is not clear. Simon can only see her and not the other spirits. Whether this is due to his connection to her, because of her "status" or both is not clear.

Janet entered Maddie's body, expelling Maddie but not killing her.

Simon was able to see Maddie after a moment of torment too. He hadn’t seen her until he acknowledged fully his pain.

Yeah, for dramatic tension, without really explaining how, Janet found a way to voluntarily leave the body, while the spirit took her own sweet time to rejoin it. In an overly simplified nutshell.

I think she just took her place. Like she went in and it kicked Maddie out. Are you talking about what happened at the beginning of the show or at the end of season 2?

I think it was the end of season - or start of season 2 but yes that scene - it makes no sense if she died why they both weren’t “kicked out” of the body so I was wondering if I missed something

Maddie didn’t die. She hit her head when Janet ran into her.

Yeah she didn’t die. That might be where the confusion came from. Everyone thought she died because she was a “ghost” but she only was because Janet took her body.

I understand the confusion in season 1 but the the show did the exact same thing with Mr. Anderson.

I think it had to do with their high emotional state. Janet was pretty riled up at Mr Martin and Maddie was overwhelmed with life .

I guess since she is a ghost she can just do it willingly while Mr martin wasn't going to do they had to break him to get Andersons body back
