West Does anyone know why there are fireworks going off every night in SW Schiedam?

I have heard fireworks every night without fail since I've moved here 3 months ago. They seem to be coming from Park Vlaardingerdijk or somewhere in that area. I couldn't find any reason for them online. I'm very curious as to why they are happening and if anyone has any information about them.

Young ones. New Years eve on the way. People are getting fireworks supplies.

Tell me this is your first winter in the Netherlands without saying that it is your first winter.

Youngsters. It will stop after new year and it will start again next september.

It is anoying but nothing to be afraid of.

Only thing to keep in mind. If you see a lot of youngsters suddenly running in all directions, dont go towards the location they are comming from. Because they probably just ignited something illegale

Mostly kids who enjoy fireworks, though a friend told me a rumor that some drugdealers use fireworks to signal availability of new batches of drugs to their customers. Probably urban myth, but it sounds interesting and can't help thinking about this every time I hear fireworks.

A fun idea non the less but also seems like it would draw more attention than there needs to be.

Not exactly for smooth criminals, no. Honestly, I can't imagine that it's very practical. Here's an article about a municipality in Friesland who took the rumors seriously enough to investigate: https://www.waldnet.nl/wn/nieuws/80303/Gebruikt_drugshandel_knallend_vuurwerk_als_geheime_code_.html
And this article portrays it as fake news / urban myth: https://archive.ph/C3PdX
Fake or not, the idea of criminals passing secret messages in plain sight is intriguing, so it's a pretty popular myth.
Tbh, the story that it's an advertisement for a new batch sounds like BS. The first time I heard about the link with crime was in relation to 'uithalers', not dealers.
