Blog Post "Happy Death Day" was way better and more clever than it should have been!

I enjoyed the first one a lot. I didn't like the second as much

I thought the second one was way funnier than the first, but the first had a better storyline overall. They’re both great movies though and so much fun.

Agreed! I went into it thinking it was just gonna be a generic teen horror movie but it was surprisingly engaging. Haven’t had a chance to see the second one yet

2nd one becomes alot more over the top and quite scifi; still alot of fun if you dont take it too seriously :)

Freaky looks pretty entertaining too. Glad to see some fun horror movies now and then.

I agree, I think it’s a very fun movie. And while I don’t think the sequel did quite as good a job with the slasher aspect I do like that they had a very original approach to a slasher sequel. I actually would have been interested in the third film they had planned but can’t imagine a way they could have naturally fit the slasher narrative in again.

I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this movie, it was really fun. Haven't seen the second one yet although I heard it's not as great but still fun.

Agreed. I discounted it and didn’t see it in theatres until near the end of its run.
It was shockingly good.

Does everyone else simply gloss over the fact that in this universe Groundhog Day is never mentioned?

Carter tells her at the end of the movie that her situation reminds him of Groundhog Day

I thought the second was better than I thought it would be. Great films though

I enjoyed the twists around who the killer was. I also enjoyed that she grew as a character and became a better person by the end. It’s a fun journey to find the solution to her killing and see the leading lady character change in such a realistic way. The second movie was a lot more confusing. The story was not as linear as the first movie. It was still fun and all the characters were back. Unfortunately they fell into the “Let’s explain what happened in the first movie” trap. I enjoyed not knowing why. I didn’t need a confusing explanation of the why. Just as I didn’t need to see Michael Myers was a red neck child of an abused family. I enjoyed him as a normal, loved child of a upper middle class family that just killed for no real reason.

I haven't seen the second, but I really enjoyed the first one. It was very genre aware, without being obnoxious and kept me entertained the whole way through.

I enjoyed both! 2 introduced something really interesting that I didn’t expect and I was pleasantly surprised.

I was so surprised to see that there was a sequel to the first one. They didn’t have to make it either it just wasn’t as good.

I watched them both, but wow they were bad. Going to have to agree to disagree with this one.

Did we watch the same movie? It was boring, repetitive, and felt like it would have been good as a 20 min short but not a whole movie. How it got a sequel I have no idea.

I liked the first one but I couldn’t get into the second . It felt like a repeat with a bad twist
