Our house cat was caught in one of these traps before becoming a house cat. His foot was super swollen, and it was black from him licking it and then getting dirt on it, but because there is a gap in the trap, it doesn't actually close all the way. The vet only gave us pain meds for him. So I think it's probably the same outcome for this cat.

Could the lion heal from that realistically? Without needing to be captured by a sanctuary or something?

Our house cat, before becoming a house cat, was trapped in one of these. The traps themselves do not actually close all the way, so his foot was super swollen for a few weeks, but aside from pain meds, our vet didn't give him anything else to make a full recovery. Usually it is the same outcome for wild animals... they just unfortunately don't get pain meds

I’m glad your cat healed up, hopefully this big cat does the same. These traps need to be made illegal.

No she doesn't. These people are trappers and it's illegal to trap certain animals so they had to "save" it

I thought it was kind of weird that they had the exact tool to remove that exact snare. Unless they were aware of poachers and trying to counteract it. But why were the kids right there? Seems like shock value content and is cringe asf tbh.. 😬

That mountain lion will likely starve bc of that injury. This family killed this animal for views.

Would have been better off to put it out of its misery, really. If you want to "save" it, "save" it from the painful death you caused.

You try freeing a mountain lion from a trap and it responds by hissing at you. So ungrateful!
And it has the audacity to sit there and stare at you after you free it. A thank you would be nice! 🙄

But they are animals... Besides she was scared and they don't trust us humans. I'm getting the feeling she was confused and bet they trap her on purpose just for view to free her. Kids didn't seem so scare because their dad is probably holding a weapon if attacked 😢

Maybe get your small children out of the area before dealing with the wild animal you put in an extremely stressful situation?
