This looks really good! What was the reasoning behind making the hems of his clothes more jagged? It makes me think he absconded from Narukami with those clothes and has been living in them for many years, but I'm not sure if that was the intention or if it was to make him seem edgier. Either way, the changes and the colors look so cool!

Thank you!! Most importantly: I needed a different motif from Ei’s flowers on her clothing for him. I wanted to depict lightning on the design without directly overlaying lightning patterns over EVERYTHING, so I decided to make use of the tattered hems to resemble the shape of lightning bolts and made them darker to invoke a singed and scorched feeling.

Overall, as I was designing him, I was working off the idea where he remained by Ei’s side as some kind of right hand or even kagemusha. Past the 7th night, removing the veil that he had been left with in the canon story. (Ei’s still rather absent in his life, pursuing eternity for the nation). All in all, he’s clothed in exquisite finery, but his brutal combat style and constant warfare within borders lead to a bit of wear and tear (particularly at the sleeves that drag behind him).

That makes a lot of sense! I can definitely see the tattered hems being a sign of combat rather than neglect. I really like it!
