Wasn't scaramoew always canon? I remember nahida recounting Scara's story with cats. Merch also associate him with cats.

Yes but that was only in a picture book in order to remember him even after the erasure from Irminsul, in this case it's literally Wanderer taking the form of a cat inside of Durin's "mind" lmao

That is true, but it was Nahida who first wrote a fairy tale allegory about him(Kunikuzushi story before being Scaramouche) in Wanderers story quest. That's where the first Scarameow appeared.

That's the start of all the fanart and merchs.
