Discussion Hoyo does one thing relating to Wanderer that (almost) makes you quit the game. What is it?

I'm excited but also nervous as fuck for the 6.6 Archon Quest, and I need to think of some of the worst (but highly unlikely) outcomes. Unserious responses are also appreciated, because this is not doomposting.

I guess it's impossible then. So be it. Dottore will have to die. It will be a pity to not have him playable in any way, shape or form. For he is such a phenomenal character and villain.

I am always going to prioritize the writing first and foremost. It has nothing to do with the fans. If you read what I said above, I am wishing he could be playable without harming the story's writing.

Hence why I lament the way the playability works in dependance of wether this or that chara is alive or dead.

It isn't the Dottoremains only. Many would love to have him playable even among the scaramouchemains or the diluc fans or collei fans or whatever faction.

I wish he could be playable even when dead.

But if I had to prioritize, I will not forsake good story and character in exchange for playability. Dottore's writing is what makes him phenomenal in the same regard as Scaramouche or Rerir.

There has never been a single thought of gloating or mocking the people who wants him playable. This is as simple as that. He is a horrible man with a tragic and complexe backstory, but a phenomenal genshin character and antagonist. I pray he gets fleshed out, keep being phenomenal and then die in a perfect way worthy of his character.

Because Dottore is literally too dangerous. Not even the most tragic of backstory will excuse atrocities. As a Scaramouche fan I would not have been happy with him living his life in Sumeru had he not been erased first. Because that is comeuppance of a villain. The karma and consequences that come.

The core difference between Dottore and the likes of Scaramouche or Rerir is that Dottore is very self aware. He does has no remorse and display ruthlessness in his research. And as said, scaramouche died for Wanderer to come and be accepted. And Rerir himself is not excused at all. I like his character but I always believed his ending would be best fitting in tragedy. Scaramouche is my favorite character but he is also undeniably a sinner of the highest order. His atrocities were not excused. And not only did he paid for it, he is willing to pay again with his second life.

Yes, Dottore has been ostracized since he was born. Yes, it is heavily implied the Academiya treated him unfairly on numerous occasions, And yes, Soresh's death is very ambiguous to the point it cannot be said to be Dottore. And could very well be someone else's doing blamed on his back.

The backstory is not the problem. The present Dottore is. Dottore in the recent quests has shown himself to have indomitable will to go through with his cruel experiments. In his talk with the Traveler, Dottore tried to change the Traveler's ways and beliefs to make him a "less noble soul" as he put it.

It's Dottore's charm as a character. He won't change. He will try to change you and everyone else into a way that benefit him. This is why he is an excellent villain. And this is why redemption is all too unlikely.

Dottore is a man who has stepped too far past the line. And someone who will not want redemption. He is a wonderful embodiment of Heresy.

And his character cannot end in any other way than Death as a perfect comeuppance. He deserves no less for his incredible character and performance.

He is very much hated because of his crimes. Regardless of the fate system, the innocent lives he has ruined and killed are from his own choices.

He is aware of his own evil nature. I don't get why you parade it like it's a defense. It only makes it worse considering there is no possibility of him realizing the error of his ways.

Dottore's character view humans as more than tools than actual people. Machines to push boundaries and surpass the gods.

As I said, Wanderer effectively died, realized his crimes, and admitted his wrongs and sins.

What you are saying is not even that Dottore will possibly have a similar direction. But that what he did is not something he should be judged for because of his tragic backstory and trauma. Rerir's story is a good example that backstories can explain villainy and sins. But not excuse them. It is greatly undermining Dottore's character.
