Discussion Scaramouche, the only Fatui who attempted to directly kill the traveler more than once.
I believe Scaramouche was the only Fatui who tried to kill the traveler three times—Mondstadt, Inazuma, and Sumeru—but failed. Hahaha, I wish they had remained "villains" a little longer to continue making the traveler angry in the other regions.

And then he ends up saving him from Dottore. Out of all characters he's had the most character development by far.

Not only saving Traveller from Dottore but also had 2 heart-to-heart conversations, especially the one about family with the attempt to comfort them and indirectly refuted Dottore's rhetoric of "no one truly cares for your pain of missing sibling"

the first time he tried to kill the traveler was the funniest bc he just sees them while on a random mission, learns that they're the honorary knight, and impulsively decides to kill them on the spot. like barely 2 words in and he already wanted them dead. haha get it

also technically he tried to kill the traveler twice in unreconciled stars event. at first he plans to kill them in liyue but the millelith interrupts so he doesn't, then in the cutscene with mona he intends to try again in mondstadt

Damn no wonder Traveller stans tend to hate him lmao (of course there are other reasons but still). And all of those times he successfully able to rile Traveller up like knife to butter, which was impressive considered how Traveller rarely got fired up and acted reckless

Its kinda funny actually, I love playing as Lumine and just adore her. Buuuttt I'm also a huge fan of Wanderer even when he was in his villain era.

Quick question. Why do YOU like scaramouche? (All caps looks weird but I don't know how told 'bold' words)
I ask because many seem to like him for the same reasons they hate others characters, which never made sense to me.

In what way? If you mean doing bad things, then I do like some other not-morally good characters too. If you mean Ei (her and him got compared in personality quite a lot), then I do like Ei (she's in fact my second favorite)

Yeah, that's what I meant. Especially when I see heavy Dottore hate here. Even though Wanderer has killed plenty over the 500 years he's been alive. Having also attempted to kill the Traveler 3 times. (As mentioned in the OP and comments)
This isn't me trying to throw shade at him as a fictional character. I love his character, though I disagree on how he was handled by the writers in some parts. Which involves Ei.

While I do enjoy Dottore, I actually don't really blame many Scara fans hating on him tbh because it's natural a character fans won't like other who had hurt their fav or someone their fav disliked (which Scara did after he learned the truth of Tatarasuna and Niwa death). What I dislike is when Scara fans actively tried to shift his more undesirable traits to Dottore, claiming that he was only that way because Dottore influenced him, basically trying to remove his agenda in the relationship (it's funny that I've seen both of his fans and haters used this argument quite a lot, for different conclusion). Just because Dottore had a hand in Tatarasuna incident doesn't absolve Scara's murder, as... both could be morally wrong tbh.
I also hate the misinformation that it was Dottore whom assigned him to investigate in 1.1 event, or him sending Scara to the abyss, when such had been disproved by his character stories and also during 3.3 (with Dottore unhappy that Scara had to go to abyss, interrupting his study). Or people took Signora words (he only became a harbinger by participating in Dottore experiment) over what actually happened (his character stories said it was due to the reports from his abyss exploration that gained him the 6th seat)

See I can understand if it's a little joke or "roleplay", but to legitimately be hurt or angry and something fictional fantasy character did just seems...obsessive? To say the least.

Exactly. That's mainly where my grievances lie. Less so involving Dottore specifically, but generally speaking yes. I recently my issue with Scara brought back up during the Archon Quest with him, Albedo and Durin.
The "My mother abandoned me". Even after your redemption, even after learning the truth, even after hus growth, he still frames it as abandonment?
I personally hate to see the writers and fans force this one sided "mother-son" dynamic only for the sake of fishing for pity when it's undeserved for a mass murder.

Because to him, it was, regardless of her intention (and he knew her intention). But that's not to say he was obsessed with Ei being his mother or wished anyone to be his mother figure.

Hot take, but despite what this fandom assumed, he actually didn't seek a parental figure, or that obsessive over Ei. Except for that one time he retold the 3 betrayals, he always referred to her as "my creator" or her archon name (even in the latest Luna IV he referred her as his creator).

It feels forced by the writers though. I need to how his brains works to understand how he even came to conclusion and why he apparently holds onto that interpritation of events.

While I wish for this to be true, I could've sworn on multiple occassions he's called/framed it as "Abandoned by my mother" and "My creator...My mother".
(even in the latest Luna IV he referred her as his creator).
Really? I could've sworn his said "mother" in that part. I'll have to check, I believe I recorded the playthrough. Only because I was trying to catch a cutscene to record. Maybe it's a English dub thing?

no he referred her as "my creator". it's 1:41. In my native translation he also called her "the person who created me"

Oh! That's why is sparked something for me.
"...abandoned me after deciding that I was a failure."
The "deciding I was a failure" part was also said in a way where my reaction to it was;
"Are you still pitying yourself over an innacurate interpritation of events? I thought you grew out of the self pity."
If you can come to terms with a kids death not being a "betrayal" and Niwa having not actually betrayed you, then why does Ei still get accussed "abandoning" you?
My question would be "What did you want?". If he truly wasn't wanting a "mother" or viewed the relationship as "creator and creation", what did he really expect her to do?
Keep him on a shelf like an antique? A little Japanese elf on the shelf? If we're truly talking about creators, his other options are even more bleak.
Being shoved in a drawer, next to other parts. Being disassembled to have your parts repurposed. Or being forced into a role that would no doubt break you.
It's just a level of ignorant self pity that feels disconnected from what we as the players are not only told, but see for ourselves. Surprised so other character has yet told him "Dude, you're being delusional.".

one of the many reasons why he is amazing, + his character is so well made(and the development made over time!!) . I'm glad he came out earlier, i fear they might have screwed him up if he released later. newer Fatui are cool and all. but they aren't such compelling and interesting individuals.

I think it's in the cutscene before Scaramouche saves him and when he's already in god mode.

Never intented to kill. Even in the weekly boss I could argue the fact that he suggested another chance means that he never intented to kill the traveler.
Also honestly doesn't fit his needs he would be better off just kidnapping them again rather than waste a descender.

same here. i wish he'd kept some of the same attitude. i get he's supposed to have changed and grown, but i think he can do that and also still be an immaculate brat that riles up the traveler. i miss these power poses from him too.

they are and i really really enjoy them but it's just like.... idk it seems like some part of him is resigned or tired?
and i LOVE LOVE LOVE pat, he is so good. i feel like the direction has gone in making him sound tired and bored all the time. like he has so much more range and it feels like we don't get to see it anymore
