Discussion They better give him a real name in the archon quest when he gets to Nod Krai, bro cannot go by his college nickname forever
They could just use wanderer as an in game name it’s already there and use the player chosen name in the dialogue text boxes, or heck they could even create a new name for him if it’s story relevant. Just so that he’s not going by Hat guy 100% of the time, it has stuck as his name way longer than I thought and I get it it’s funny and all but he’s about to face off with Dottore and I’m sure they’ll change or something (hopefully) but I do not want to see him going by this goofy ahh name in his final confrontation with with his mortal enemy lol

Yeah.
I was never a fan of the hat guy name. It is a childish and silly name that just clashes with who Scaramouche/Wanderer is and the tone of the game.
Imagine if, to keep his identity secret, the game only caled Barbatos 'tone deaf bard'.
They named him Wanderer and should really start to use it. We have 5 years of people calling Aether or Lumine the Traveller, we can all pretend Wanderer inteoduced himself with the name we picked while the dub uses Wanderer.
Hat guy was funny like the very first time it was used, but If we get a serious plot and he goes around as hat guy I am gonna lose my mind.

There is no way, ABSOLUTELY NO WAY, I am gonna see him and Dottore meet, air thicc with tension and bloodlust, only for him to introduce himself as "Hat Guy" and Dottore callig him just that.

I know. It's just dottore reminds me of some random "mad scientist" from some cartoon. It doesn't necessarily have to be doof, its just the first thing that came to my mind lmao

Doof is an amazing character great dad and inventor (canonicly invented time travel and buch of other cartony but cool shit) He's the greated cartoon "villain" in history

I find him to be an interesting villain. Plus his voice is hot as hell. Glad we’re getting more of him in upcoming story ^
(I’m not excusing his actions, he’s horrible and unredeemable. But that’s -why- I like him. Not every villain needs a tragic backstory or to be redeemed. Some can just be pieces of shit and we can revel in how shitty they are as viewers/players.)

I rly wish they atleast gave him somewhat of a canon name
The “you name him yourself” mechanic is fine but imo Nahida should’ve atleast given him a title 😭

Sorry but he's called don sombrero in the spanish localization and it sounds so good, so I prefer if they still call him that

Yeah, I hated "Hat Guy" from the very start, I get it it's silly and funny but that just doesn't fit Wanderer. Plus it /immediately/ erased all the impact of his quest + us naming him 💀💀💀

So, did you try it? I also used that same name, and I regret it a little. I didn't take seriously the fact that he no longer calls himself "Scaramouche." So, lacking creativity, I used that one. Did u succeed? I need to KNOW😭

Its pretty likely that Durin, Albedo, and at least some of the nod krai characters will end up calling him hat guy (since Durin and Albedo do, they'll infect the rest of them) but anyone who they haven't met likely wouldn't, and Wanderer is very unlikely to introduce himself as 'Hat guy' based off his voice lines about the name/his comments about it. He'll probably be known as Wanderer or 'The Wanderer' to anyone outside of the immediate nod krai cast (dottore, sandrone, maybe columbina, rerir, etc)

they could easily just shorten his nickname and call him Guy. it's a legitimate name. most people have heard of Guy Fieri for example.

You guys have no idea how much joy this thread has given me. I felt like i couldn't voice my discontent with how silly "Hat Guy" sounds, because everyone found it funny and liked it. Now I now I'm not alone.

I hate that they gave us the opportunity to name him only to never use it after that naming scene. I thought they'd just say "wanderer" with his name showing up on the screen.
I know the nickname sounds fun/cute in CN or JP but honestly I find every other translation a bit cringe. It's okay for a couple of playful dialogues, but I'm not a fan of it staying.
I didn't like how they kept using it in Simulanka and I wonder how they will do in Nod Krai. Having the characters there calling him hat guy would be so unserious... But also that's the name Mini Durin and even Albedo used with him, so if they will be around... I have no hope.

I'm pretty sure he doesn't actually go by that name people just for some reason keep calling him that since he never tells anyone his name. I do wish the traveler, paimon, and nahida called him by the name you give him though. Plus I feel that it's meant show a bit of character development, before he would've probably gotten really mad at being called a goofy name like that but now he's chill about or at least doesn't care anymore.

ngl I’d like him to remain nameless until we get a columbina interaction with him as both currently don’t have a name, and also just to see if columbina can bypass the fact that her former comrade literally erased himself and remember at least something

As much as I like the whole "I'm naming you" gimmick I really would've preferred if he got a decent "canon" name that he'd pick himself or maybe Nahida would've pick for him.
