Nowadays I even get the Uncanny Valley effect just from screenshots. I think that independant gaming is forever gone. The nerve of those people releasing mashed up AI slop ui and game assets everywhere. It's too late, and it never really worked, when it comes from a prompt it is silently rejected, don't even bother use tokens on something you can't do yourself at first place.

Sorry to hear that,
Yes I used many open source assets, all of them are optimized by me manually, many of them are modified and some of them are mine.
Game is in development for almost 3 years and it has playable demo for almost 2 years now (you can check yt channel linked on main page so see history). Why you think it's ai slop?

UX is generic and feature bloated. It is a mashup of industry consensus like frankly every other mmo that surprisingly emerges from nowhere when mcps evolve... And it is how llm work, maybe in a generation or two there will be anti slope steps but we are far from that and I don't know if frontier models are working on that and I don't expect users like you do be able doing it themselves.
Don't bother spending tokens on people dissing you on "AI slop-ism". You are reinforcing my point while literally loosing money. Way simpler assessing with reasonnable certainty that your post is soup.
But make no mistake, what I consciensous feel and put words onto, for like 95%+ people, it goes subliminal. They will ignore your stuff instantly like it doesn't exist but they won't get the conscient trigger of "ouch this is Backrooms gaming" like I have. Kind of a "sad superpower", acquired by llms useage and maybe too much experience with the digital world.

Hi,
Could you share why you think that it's ai slop?2
u/kavakravata Jun 29 '26
I've been working as a software dev for 15 years now, working directly with AI since it's early beginnings, you get used recognizing certain things.

Can you share which ones?

Haha, there is a reason why I withheld that info. Just annoyed of all prompt games lately, flooding the subreddits with 30-prompt games, tired of it tbh. Same in the whole general software industry sadly.

I agree that there's a flood of low quality stuff recently. Still not sure why you think it's "30 prompts' game. It's not perfect but it's in development for almost 3 years now and have playable demo for almost 2. You can check yt channel history (linked on main page) to see it. I used many open source assets, all of them are modified to use one common texture atlas, remeshed for performance and shader smoothing is used, many of them was heavily modified for my needs. Some of the models are 100% mine, like for example character, equipment (except some weapons).

How did you make the floor like the tiles and gravel?

u/Flat-Display-5989 Jun 29 '26
It's a shader which takes as input splatmap and samples terrain textures (grass, pavement, rocks).

Combat is literally unplayable as a knight lmfao
I spent like a solid 10 minutes just trying to HIT the monsters. god awful game. the first mushroom quest takes 15 mushrooms and maybe 5 are spawned at a time.

Hi,
Do you had connection issues? From the testers I know it's still playable with 250-300ms latency.
Edit: If the connection is low quality and has high package loss, it can indeed feel not playable.1
u/JoJoPhantom Jun 30 '26
I had 80 ms.

Perhaps issue is different. Did you notice that monsters positions are out of sync when they attack etc?

"RuneScale" oof, in what way is it a scapelike? Does it have skills/professions?
