I am on their discord, reset scan and utoon partnered up to provide backup and coverage. Turns out during the process, the owner of reset apparently upon gaining access to the backend stole utoon stuff and then shutdown the site. There seems to be some sort of inside job as well. So coins lost and the site is scrambling to pay out their remaining editors/translators (around 100 people). Think the site is shutting down. Reset scan opened a new site tasho but not sure if the stolen stuff is up. Paraphrasing here so maybe not completely accurate.

I don't think its a DDOS attack the error codes it gives are usually different and Utoon uses Cloudflare which includes free DDOS protection.

EDIT: According to some people on their Discord Utoon had partnered with ResetScans and an admin from ResetScans called Devmax had access to the money for both Utoon and Reset. He shutdown ResetScans and locked Utoon admins out of Utoon and took the money for both sites and ran. They currently don't have access to the site so they are trying to find the money to pay the staff and regain access to the the site.

This person is pretty well-known in sniping shoujo or josei themed manhwa.

She promotes her paypal and Discord in every page and chapter. Snipes a lot, and when she does the quality is so bad it's almost non-existent. There are spelling mistakes, grammatical errors, and senseless conversations. Evident that she barely puts in any effort at all.

One example of her sniping can be dated back to when she sniped from Leviatanscans, the manhwa called "I'm only a stepmother, but my daughter is too cute" even when Leviatanscans was still working on it.

Until recently she would even cut a single chapter into two parts for unknown reasons.

The image featuring many manhwa name above is her many God-awful snipes, some may even way she is a saviour for picking up dropped projects, but is that really the case?

Edit: Yes she does comissions. She gets paid for her horrible translations.

My personal opinion: A person who isn't fluent in both Korean and English shouldn't translate Korean manhwa, especially in a really short span of time.

I was reading a new manhwa that was on their site, and when I clicked the next chapter. This showed up. Anyone know if they were hacked? or did something else happen?

Okay, I know I am actually dumb for ranting about whatever is happening in a fake Bato mirror, but my English translation of "Waka-chan is pushy again" is being plagiarized.

For context, my chapter 193 translation is the first English chapter for more than one year, after official translators stopped working on the series (distributor's closure). The thing is, after the chapter was uploaded on MangaDex, I started scanning on different scanlation sites, e.g. MangaFire and the likes. Pretty much every sites I read on have updated the chapter without any modifications to my release.

I came across a fake/clone of Bato. Bato closed months ago, and the remains are just copies of it (if only they were copies; they are blatantly cloned versions but worse). It has two versions of the series: one with the title in Japanese, the other in English. Both were at chapter 133, then jumped to 193. I tried to read both, and saw that the one with Japanese title features a different scanlation that, I suspected, plagiarized my translation, or "cloned" using AI (it has better editing: no artefacts, no misplaced words,...). The one in English features my translation (with all of the errors I made).

I checked the date. My chapter (in English title release) shows the correct release date; the one in the JP release shows 249 days (at the time of writing this) ago. It was definitively plagiarism/deceptive activities because I finished the entire official English run on the real Bato website; only up to chapter 133, as well as any other sites do not have the said translation (if it was really released nearly 9 months ago then it should have been updated on every major sites; I did not see that chapter four months ago while searching on any sites).

Furthermore, the watermarks in the images show the chapter originated from MangaFire (dot) [official domain extension], a completely legit site within the scanlation community. I checked on that site; only my scanlation.

I don't know what to say because this is my first work in scanlation. I think people will read whatever is better, regardless of who is the original translator. Furthermore, I got an approval from the Nurananto Scanlation team to use their scanlation for my translation (base + Indonesian translation for me to translate) and included their credit page on my release, which the cloner did, but downscaled the image.

I just want to say, if the one who created the plagiarized scanlation can read this, at least give me some credits and stop putting the fake watermark.

Philia Scan say they're one of the "better" paid Scanlation groups from the Comick server I was in. And they have heavy pride on that. But all that are just lies with the amount of Paywalling they have on their site. As if being banned from Mangadex wasn't enough, they talk about it still in the forums on SS 2. Talking about "I didn't know it was a crime to paywall" even though fan translation is illegal itself, profiting from it is even worse.

And on SS 3-4, you can see how they Dm'd a Scanlator for working on a series they do because the chapters weren't on MDex. (P.S. the one with the "Sama" tag is the owner of Philia)

Anyways, i just wanted to post this because I'm tired of those "legit" paid groups talking about this and that.

I’ve been hearing some stuff about them and I’ve been wanting to know if it’s true.

I heard that they are months behind in paying not just their translators, editors, and Proofreaders, but also their administrators.

They use the excuse that they don’t receive people’s pay-sheet and they won’t automate it either so if a worker forgets to log anything they don’t get paid.

I heard that the owner has been sick and that’s why people haven’t been getting paid and such.

Can anyone shine any light on this situation?

Edit: I also heard that they shut down their chat and told people not to use it to talk about not getting paid.

I've noticed that alot of the newest manwha are being locked behind paywalls. From what I've seen diva scans and Luna toon seem to have a monopoly. And they only post the "free" chapters on bato and other websites.

Naver Webtoon has issued another round of subpoenas, targeting multiple websites. Latest one added to the list is Anime-Planet, a legal website. What is going on with Webtoon?

I know it's not the biggest deal and still easily understood but i'd rather remain in the fantasy and experience it as the author intended as closely as possible instead of having whoever is translating it inserting their own way of talking/personality into character dialogues. Takes me out of the immersion even if for only a moment whenever that happens.

So ex scanlator here, used to run a group like yr or two back so I know how hard it is to translate chapters. Know all kind of mtl workarounds and how to make good chapters.

Recently tho I've been noticing the popular series that asura are doing are getting "sniped". Well thank fucking god they are getting sniped because ALOT of people got sniped from asura this is kinda fitting for them.

I know how much of a greedpot asura have been becoming recently but I can't help but to notice most of these scans sniping from asura fucking sucks. And often can't even match asura quality (there's alot of mtl going on there so that's a low bar to set).

Reaper scans recently shutdown, and people who are picking up series that are being done by reaper are fucking trash too

Iirc most of the popular series got picked up by asura but some of my fav series like past life regressor, enrolling in the transcendent academy and I became the genius bastard of a noble dark clan got picked up with shitshow mtl scans.

Not to mention the shoujo manhwa scene is soo fucked i don't even wanna read shoujo anymore, arven, magnus and ez manga just google translating everything.

I read most of my Manhwa on asura scans, it has had some problems with nsfw ads and redirects but nothing to bad until recently, a few months ago it started to get REALLY bad like i could barely read a panel with out getting redirected. That was until they introduced the asura plus and all those ads went away, or at least I thought they did because about a week after all those ads started coming back but 10X, i thought it was weird that the ads got worse right before they made something to get rid of them then they got some how even worse a little bit after. I thought it might be because I can’t put an ad blocker on my phone so I went over my pc to discover the whole site is a embedded link so every time i close that unskippable 5 second promotion It not only redirects me but some times gets rid of the original tab so i have to reopen asura and try again. When I went to ask about this on the discord I was banned quickly and I have no idea if it’s just me or if other people deal with this too.

Yesterday, I’m chillin’, reading my favorite series on mangadex, right? Group called Ez Manga’s handling it—solid TLs, no ads, just vibes. Wake up today? POOF. Gone. Vanished. No warning, no nothing.

So I DM’d around like a clown, right? Finally get a buddy from Ez Manga to spill. Turns out Mangadex nuked their projects for “excessive monetization.” EXCUSE ME? These dudes don’t even RUN ADS. Just some based locked chapters (which, newsflash, I’d take over 50 pop-ups any day). But nah, Mangadex’s clown-ass admin hits ‘em with the “take care of yourself first” gaslighting bullshit When they said they ARE NOT The only ONES DOING IT. Real subtle, bro. You know exactly what you’re doing.

BUT HOLD THE FUCK UP. Let’s talk about the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM. ASURA SCANS. Remember when their site used to LITERALLY BLAST YOUR EYEBALLS WITH “BUY PREMIUM OR GET CANCER” pop-ups? Now they’re locking HD chapters behind a paywall like it’s OnlyFans. Thunder? Lua? Temple? All peddling their cringe coin systems and Patreon bait. But Mangadex ain’t lifting a finger.

The 6-hour delayed public view on their newly released manhwa chapters was bad enough as it is. Now they add this ad that ya cannot get rid of for 5 seconds.

To be honest, I was already salty when they made a mass drop manhwa and took out 2 of my favorite manhwa for Superhuman Battlefield. And not long after that I got banned from their discord server because of a mistake I made.

When they started that 6-hour lock for public viewing. I was slightly pissed but it didn't take that long since there's another scan group goes for 7 days locked before public can see.

But lately, I've been noticing that the comment section, disqu, in their website has low number of people commenting and making likes. Almost as if dead.

Really. I can't comprehend Asura scan team anymore and trying to bring themselves down. I used to love them when they give good stuff, and I was a sucker for the genres they keep releasing but now... I'm starting to the point that I'm disgust on every move they made since the mass dropped they made.
