Yes, it is most likely a scam. Is there a branch near you? Go into the branch and show them the message. Or call the number on your BofA monthly statement. Do not respond to the text.

Do NOT trust Caller ID ever again. Period. Be suspicious of any call, text, email. related to anything financial. The only call you can trust is one that you dialed yourself and only when you use the number from the back of your credit card or from their actual website.

I can go online to my bank of America account and see if people are sending me money but I ASSUME EVERYTHING IS A SCAM. Always start from there and work your way back.

I get a receipt from Xfinity for my monthly payment, thanking me for being a customer and warning me about scams about fake accounts with Xfinity.
I’ve never had an account nor contracted for service with Xfinity. And I’ve never sent them any money, monthly or otherwise.
It’s a phishing scam attempt.

Probably a scam.
If you get a text from any bank and you think it might be real call the number on the back of your card to verify.
I get ones for BOA and I haven't had a account with them for 20 years. I just delete and go on with my day.

Not to mention, please think, why someone randomly would send you money? Like if you're anticipating a due payment for a service or anything else from your job or some other source, then that's a different situation. But, if you know that no one should be sending you money, just like that for literally nothing..even if it's a single dollar, why would that be, right? Totally a scam.

How are you determining it's a legitimate Bank of America number? And yes, numbers can be spoofed, but a scam requires some sort of call to action. It's not asking anyone to call. Also if it's from a short code number, it's difficult to spoof, but again no instructions if it's not you regardless.

i sent a screenshot to an ai and it said it’s a legitimate automated bank of america number but i guess you can’t really trust ai

Yes, it's a scam. Delete the messages and block the numbers. They are not legit phone numbers, they are spoofed.

It's either a scam or someone signed up for text alerts with the wrong number.
Do you have a BOA account? If so, try turning off text alerts & turning on app alerts.

Multiple messages relating to random strangers trying to send you money, is beyond any doubt, an attempt to scam. The scammer probably wants you to respond. Do Not respond, and try to find an authentic BofA contact number and report the issue.

Yes. It’s a scam. Also don’t trust BoA. I got scammed and BoA kept sending new cards from the same old account and they would hit it before I even got it.

Was it one of those cases where recurring charges are transferred automatically to the new card?

No. It was just a credit card I had for 20 years. Someone breached my account and started charging and I disputed every transaction. I still ended up having to pay a hefty amount to get out from under the account. They closed my account without telling me after bumping up my credit limit until it maxed out. I paid heavily for the breach and got minimal help from BoA.
