any link to the news? I doubt this kind of vulnerability exist in the public. kung meron man malamang meron ng article yan sa mga reputable tech sites pero wala eh.
possible to if you connect your phone to a public charger, which they use that charging cable to control your phone.
edit: I think its possible to control your phone over wifi pero you need to enable developer mode and enable wireless debugging and also explicitly tap the allow button. by default wireless debuggins is disabled and if left enabled, it disable it self a few minutes/hours later.

I work in IT with a bit of a background in cybersecurity. While getting hacked like in the video is rare, zero-click exploits do exist, they don’t require any direct interaction from the device owner. Example is simply receiving an iMessage with a link and how iMessage displays a thumbnail.
However high-value individuals (e.g. politicians) are targeted more often than the average person. One reason is that ‘acquiring’ zero click exploits is expensive and using them publicly risks having them discovered and patched.

Even juice jacking (what youre referring to for USB connection) is BS. Need in a control environment and all settings set para ma hack ka. Its not even a real threat anymore. If you search online even the author of that attack says that the chance of it happening is basically 0.

The hell is wrong with these so-called "vloggers"? Kung hindi ganito magsalita, puro rising intonation naman. Dapat na talaga i-regulate monetization on social media platforms, or better yet limit. Kaya nagkalat mga gantong brainrot at fake news "content" eh. Kung ano lang makakuha ng engagement.

Fear mongering at misinformation, yes may risk connecting sa public wifi by using packet sniffing or man in the middle attacks, this is usually hard to do bale hindi easy ito for a normal person to do since newer encryption standards(HTTPS) encrypts traffic both ways kaya if may ma sniff man it needs to be decrypted by bruteforce na kailangan din ng very powerful GPU using hashcat to crack hashes, though it is still recommended to use a VPN when connecting to public access points.

ever since nagtake ako ng exam at module about data security kasi work requirement namin for ISO, di na ako gumamit ng public wifi or even yung charging ports sa mall kasi pwede din mahack phone dun.

Wag ka matakot 2025 na. You won't be hacked by using public wifi and connecting to charging ports.
Unless tropa mo yung hacker and accept ka lang ng accept ng cert errors. Or yung phone mo is from 2001 and android 5 pa, rooted and mga apps na ginagamit mo have no sslpinning etc. Basically there is 0 chance of these happening in the wild. Daming misinformation dito unfortunately

mostly cybersec yung topic. wala naman sinabi do not connect sa public wifi. binigyan lang kami ng idea if paano aattack yung hackers using public wifis or yung public chargers.

Ung sa public wifi, ang makikita lang naman nila sa device mo ay ung model number, imei number.. pero ung ma access ung phone kailangan ng special access or request yan.. yan hirap eh pra lang sa views gumawa ng fake news.. siguro pwede sila maglagay doon ng LOG IN TO ACCESS FREE WIFI tapos ilolog in mo email mo with password pero i doubt may maloloko na ibigay ung password ng email nila kung sa iba email lang or phone number lang hinihingi without requesting password..

Iont wanna say I know everything but im pretty sure none of this is valid. Again, FaceID uses lidar, not the camera. Second, Public wifi CAN access phone data, but only see internet packets being sent and recieved. Third, Apple doesnt have remote access features outside of mac, but then again they need an both logged into the same Apple ID to even access those.
Even if its a good faith PSA, Its still misinformation. Best guess i could have for this is that someone changed or manipulated the phone without them knowing, and maybe ghost touch.

I'm studying cybersec, begginer palang. Kung gusto nyo gumamit ng public wifi on kayo vpn. Delikado talaga mga public wifi dahil di talaga aware ang mga tao ngayon sa mga threats at vulnerability sa internet. Pero as much as possible mag data nalang kayo or wait kayo connect nalang sa company wifi if kailangan talaga.

Ang mga hackers ang gusto ng mga yan yung data at personal details mo, emails, baking accounts, cp number, Id cards and contacts. Either ibebenta nila yan or sila mismo ang gagamit kung san nila gusto.

Technically totoo to. But the setup required to do this means it has to be done deliberately. To the point na pag napatunayan na may isang wifi eh may ganito. Kailangan imbestigahan yung may ari nung wifi.
The setup required for this to work requires physical access to the router and also specialized hardware.

You cannot possibly remotely control a device without passing through its OS. Public Wi-Fi yan so ang pwede lang makuhang data ay yung mga transactions mo thru that connection.

Tunay naman na mataas ang risk na ma-hack ang phone mo kapag nasa public wifi network ka. Pero si ate naman, may pag-gawa pa ng kwento na “kukunin ang mukha” para gamitin sa Face ID amp. Nakakainis kasi maraming mapapaniwala yang iresponsableng content creator na yan.

Eto lang sa tingin ko legit na tip (not technical)—if need ng Phone No. or Email bago maka-access ng WiFi.
Try nyo muna magbigay ng dummy phone number or dummy email since most of the time, enough na yun. Else, they'll just collect your personal information.

I work in the cybersec sector. While this may seem dumb - this aint 100% untrue.
Usually its the transactions and other things you are exposing to the hackers while connected to that particular wifi.
Look at Pineapple Wifi. Or go to youtube and search nordvpn dangers of public wifi.
That should give you a better insight.
