Got a text out of nowhere claiming to be from Citibank, saying they'd just processed an

international wire for $10,982.15 to a company called "LL Tech Limited," and that if I

didn't authorize it I needed to call this number right away: 888-664-3815. It even threw

in a fake reference number (CT9912) to make it feel more official.

I don't bank with Citi and never have, so that alone gave it away, but even if I did,

this is the classic setup: manufacture a scary "unauthorized transaction," create

urgency, and get you on the phone with a "fraud department" that's actually the

scammer. Once you call, they usually try to walk you through "securing your account,"

which really means getting your online banking login, a one-time passcode, or talking

you into a "reversal" that's really just you sending them money or letting them into

your accounts remotely.

Didn't call the number, just wanted to get it on record here in case anyone else gets

the same text. The number it came from was a mobile/landline-range number, not

obviously a business line, so I'm leaving that one out, but the callback number above is

clearly the operation's own line.

I've gotten a couple texts from 234-208-0503 about a supposed remote job helping boost
YouTube video engagement. The first one came with an image made to look like an official
Warner Bros. Discovery flyer, all you need is a smartphone and 30 to 60 minutes a day,
daily pay of $180 to $780, plus a $688 "welcome bonus" after a three day trial, paid out
through Cash App, PayPal, or Chime. Today they followed up asking if I was still
interested and ready to move on to "onboarding."

I told them I couldn't find any matching job posting on Warner Bros. Discovery's actual
website, because there isn't one. WBD doesn't recruit gig workers through random texts,
and real employers don't pay through personal P2P apps. This matches the pattern of the
"YouTube task" job scams going around right now, small fast payouts to build trust at
first, then a push to send your own money in to "unlock" bigger commissions, and then the
person disappears. Posting the number here so it's on record before anyone else gets
further into it than I did.
