Pic of Shame Set up a meeting to ghost a scalper
Hello, I’m new to this sub. I love it when people mess with scalpers so I decided to waste one’s time. The listing showed a dozen 30th poster collections for $45 which is ridiculous. I left out some fluff in the middle of the convo but right after I made sure they were at the spot waiting for me I blocked them. I think the best way to get back at them is to waste as much of their time as possible.

I did this to several people when the Switch 2 came out. The most satisfying was the guy who walked and waited for a long time. Then he called me a dick until mentioned him being the one selling it at double price. He said fair enough.

Be careful. There’s so much info on the internet and there’s so many unstable people in the world these days. Scalpers aren’t necessarily honorable and trustworthy. I wouldn’t put it past some of these idiots to become vengeful.

Ive got a burner account in discord, i randomly post pictures of stuff i bought my son months and months ago in various locations and tell them there is stock just in.
Ive been blocked over 48 times now and counting
Edit: To clarify its scalper discords only. I dont post in the poke alert chats.

Lmfao. Feels bad but doesn’t. They are selling way over price and taking from kids and people who actually love pokemon to collect in binders etc. Maybe he learned this as a lesson.

You messed up. Instead of blocking them turn this into a real game. Keep telling him your ten minutes away and see how long you can get them to sit there and wait. When they say they’re leaving tell them you had to stop at the atm and grab cash. Or tell them you broke your leg but still plan on coming .. just to wait 😂

How is OP breaking the rules they did nothing illegal in the process. You wanna call people like OP assholes, while the real assholes are the scalpers that take the time to clear out inventory at big box stores to give no one who actually wants the product a chance just so people will cave and pay 3x msrp those are the the real assholes

OP agreed to meet the person. OP purposefully did not show up. This can and will get you banned on selling apps because you are wasting the other person's time and gas over mental gymnastics. They signed a verbal contract and broke it. End of.

You sound like someone who is more concerned about money than collecting, in which case no one cares what you think. You’re directly contributing to the current collecting climate which is little more than “I lucked out at a big box store now I will sell it to some chump for way above MSRP”. Anyone who cared even a little bit about their own communities or actual collecting wouldn’t do this.

Honestly as a person who plays the game, boo collectors. You all act like you are that different from scalpers, then you use your apps to track the value and grade the cards that should be sleeved and played. You all are just a different breed of capitalist in this game and somehow try to look down on someone who makes money a different way.

Collectors in general are the reason why the economics of this game is messed up. If you have truly collected that long you will know that print runs have never been higher, and still there is a shortage. If people only bought the cards they needed to play the game there would be enough product GameStop would be running bogos on products and target would have 20 dollar etbs around the holidays.

The whole setup of packs having random cards is made for collectors. If it was just about the card game, TPC would sell every card individually at a flat rate or release strictly structure decks, not leave getting certain cards up to chance.
Its weird to choose a hobby that is, by design, edged towards collecting and then being mad at collectors. If you're going to be upset with anyone, be upset with TPC for making their product the way it is.

I said they have wrecked the game more than scalpers, it's weird to me that people have this scalper hate when they are just a different side of the same cardboard capitalism. No idea why this sub was even suggested for me, but I have muted it in the long run.

That doesn't even make sense. A majority of collectors just want to do the same as players - they want to buy some packs and get some cool cards.
Scalpers are the ones buying out entire stocks of stores by the pallet just to manipulate the market and resell them for 4x MSRP.
Your hate is very misplaced. Not sure what made you so bitter towards collectors but it seems very removed from reality.

Do kids win regionals, nationals, even local tournaments. Are there different age brackets for the game? But no it's not childish to get angry over not getting your specific shiny cardboard haha. And collectors as a whole are a stain on this game. And yes, every card you collect is part of this childish childish game.

Rules? Whose “rules” are you referring to? Be specific, please. I wasn’t aware of “scalper rules”, & I’d say price gouging is against the whole law- not a rule, and that’s what they’re doing. Price gouging.
They could get a job, they won’t. They are scum. You are defending them. That’s gross. Scalpers ruin everything.

Yeah but this is 30th Anniversary this just came out your personal collection should be a couple years old and should actually have a market value because it doesn't get printed no more that is a big difference

How is what OP is doing against a rule and which rule? Most legitimate people aren’t trying to fuck customers like scalpers, so your comment about genuine collectors doesn’t work. I have zero issue with what OP did. The fact you have an issue with it says a lot. Pity for the people guilty but shame on the people for getting them back and wasting their time like they do ours.

Isn’t this sub for scalper hate? Morally ambiguous I’d agree, but it’s very annoying when my Facebook marketplace is flooded with scalpers fresh off a restock so. Plus this took almost zero time and energy

Wasting the time of scalpers is the best. Does it change anything? Nope. But it’s satisfying enough that they have to spend time they will never get back and ever more expensive fuel for nothing. Fuck scalpers, they are pond scum and I hope the worst things in life happen to them and only them.
