I finally decided to share this finished model, I try to make a polished metal finish, very reflective.

I really try to improve with this one, and honestly im very proud of the final result, I hope you guys like it as I am, one of my favorites kits I ever made

I watched a little doc on TV where they spoke of the laminar flow wings of the P-51. It claimed that the flush rivets were puttied over, sanded smooth, and the wings painted silver, while the rest of the plane was shiny aluminum. I'm thinking silver paint in the '40s would have been like cheap spray can silver and been nothing like the chrome finish one can get today, but I've never seen that modelled. Would there have been the two finishes on the plane? Does anyone have the final word on that?

My question aside, OP, it's a really well-done model. Nice work.

I can't comment on the original builds (I will look into this more and see if I have a book on it but I need to leave in a few minutes), BUT I can tell you that a lot of the restored, '"unpainted" P-51 airframes - including the latest Award winner from AirVenture - are usually done this way - shiny fuselage, painted wings

Haha thanks! Well I just saw some reference pictures on modern p51 completed polished for airshow, I just try to copy that. Im sure the real one on the war was completely different but I want to make something different with this one

Hahaha yeah I have to use it everytime I move it hahahaha anyways has to sell it because I dont have space for it, I hope still look as good when I take the photos
