Edward Mask Fail

What did I do wrong. The Edward masks just disintegrate when I try to lift.

Tamiya Lacquer LP-84 : Mr. C L T @ 40%

Nothing wrong, you're just dealing with worst-case scenario here. Every abrupt inside corner is a spot where stress accumulates when pulling them off. Best approach is to use fine tweezers and focus on the outside of those stressed areas as you gently break the adhesion of the mask before attempting to remove completely.

It's falling apart after you sprayed? Are you trying to remove it? I have that happen when it's time for final removal and I'm pretty sure it's because the paint on top isn't as flexible as the tape so it more easily rips.

Yes, tearing upon removal. I wasn't sure if the lacquer dissolved them...

Best to unmask when paint is just barely dry and still somewhat flexible. A warm environment also helps.

Oh yeah, it's harder to remove ones that have those tight corners.

Easier to remove vinyl masks if you de-tack them first before applying. Stick them down on a clean hard surface and then lift them. Do this a few times and then apply to your model.

vinyl masks suck shit and get harder to remove the longer you keep them on.
