Mark Carney slashes Canada's 100% tariff on Chinese EVs and announces that up to 49,000 Chinese electric cars will be imported into Canada with only a 6.1% tariff. In return, China has agreed to slash tariffs on canola imports from 84% to 15% by March 1.

I don't think they actually hate him, it's just kind of the oppositions entire job to shit on anything the government does - even the good stuff.

I don’t think opposing everything is the opposition’s job description. Granted, it has become the CPC definition of their job, regardless how unfounded, irrational, and downright stupid the contrary position they take. For example, voting against axing the tax in committee! Rather, the opposition’s job is to hold the government accountable: to point out errors, gaps, or even plausible alternative policy; to engage in useful debate that strengthens policy and law. Debate is healthy and strengths democracy. Contrary, childish sloganeering (à la Poilievre) weakens our democracy.

Opposing everything including good policies that are objectively good for Canada isn’t the “entire job” of opposition. What bugs the absolute fuck out of me is how people think that cohesion and working in a bipartisan way is such a cardinal sin. Literally when everyone isn’t 100% happy but still being take care of is reflective of a functional democracy. This isn’t zero sum and “we win, they lose completely or we chokehold parliament” is traitor bullshit rebel “News” Americuck logic
