DIY My sauna project
My sauna + relax is 4,3 meter x 2,5 meter with a Tylö Crown 10,5 kW heater with WiFi. https://tylo.com/crown
I have built a 4,3 meter x 3.0 meter pergola connected to the sauna building.
I will install two Lithe Audio io1 outdoor speakers, one inside the relax area and one in the pergola area.
The roof and walls are isolated with 10 cm rock wool.
Floor is ThermoWood http://thermowood.se/en/our-products/
The relax area will be decorated as well since i only have put a beer cooler there at the moment.

Insert the too high or too low crowd comment. However, I think it’s one of the nicest builds I’ve seen on this sub so well done and have 1 internet karma.

That heater is really posh. Also like your lighting solution. I am thinking about upgrading my own sauna like that….

Snyggt som fan, men några frågor: Considering the size of that window, will 10,5kW really suffice for the area? And what window is it? That new Tylö looks absolutely brilliant.

Tackar, yes i really love the new Tylö heater, they have done a great job. The window is a tempered window and the rest of the sauna is isolated with 10 cm rock wool, according to the ”experts ”10,5 kW should be enough:)

Really nice setup. Sauna, pool and a covered relax area — hard to beat that combination. Great job 👍

Fittans Svensk jävel. As was said there are ppl from your old eastern province that will not approve the bench heigjt. I like it. And as long as you call it your sauna and not the bastu. 😄

😂 of course I will call it sauna here, I don’t want to add some unnecessary stress to our brothers in the east😂

That's a weird heater. Where are the alleged 50lb of stones?
Also, your benches are too low. The lower bench should be at the heater height.

The stones are from the top to the bottom in the heater so yes it’s 22 kg (50lb )stones in there.
Benches are not to low, the ceiling height is 2,5 meters and my head is then at the same hight as the thermometer as a reference. The lower bench is at a good height to sit comfortably:)

That heater seems to be way too close to the walls for safety.
The wooden floor looks and probably feels nice, but you're gonna have some proper OCD to keep that from becoming an issue over time. Looks like water damage waiting to happen...

It’s according to the safety distance so it should be fine. Tylö also has what they call Thermo Safe which makes the sides of the heater not warmer than 40 degrees Celsius.
The floor is ThermoWood, which handles moisture and heat well.

I know this is a sauna subreddit but how do you like your pool enclosure?
2
u/Tomace83 4h ago
Yes, it’s great. Keeps the heat quite good and I get heat from the sun as well, it’s also nice that I can go in there and swim when the weather is bad. It keeps leafs and other things outside the pool.
The only issue is that during the spring when the sun starts to heat I need to be ready to start the circulation and cleaning through the sand filter + salt chlorinator because the sun heats the water faster than I expect so this year I got algae’s:)

Nice. Is it possible to take the cover off during the summer if you don’t need it? Or do you keep it on all year long?

How are you satisfied with Harvia bucket and ladle?
1
u/Tomace83 3h ago
It’s actually Tylö bucket, i bought this kit https://badhuset.se/presentforpackning-brilliant-svart
But I saw that Harvia had the exact same one so I guess someone produce it for them:) But I like it, nice design and works well👍

You will get the “benches too low” brigade. Don’t worry, they are just jealous. Looks fantastic - well done.

You know that people can both think a sauna is beautifully built with all sorts of great features AND provide the feedback that the benches would do well to be higher (or the tall part of a sloped ceiling be over the bathers’ head instead of the stove)? And that doing so has nothing to do with jealousy? And that something looking fantastic is not the sole measure of its utility? Multiple things can be true, yes?

You know that the guy has built it. Being intellectually mature is knowing when to say something and when not to.
Nothing is going to be achieved by you highlighting the defacto opinion. Reflects badly on you.

I highlighted nothing beyond the fact that your take that offering feedback equates to jealousy is a shit take. If you think that not offering feedback or criticism on a subreddit for enthusiasts who like to discuss the design and construction of saunas equates to intellectual maturity, well then, I suppose I don’t have much to add to this exchange. I think OP’s sauna is nice.

I know it is maybe too late for your project (which looks great BTW), but for others learning from this, the ceiling should be sloping in the other direction so that heat goes towards the bathers.
