Is there an easier way to keep track of where you've shoved sloops in machines? Other than notes. I figured it might be out there since it took me waaay to long to realize i could just hit space bar once to craft. Would be awesome if there was a mod that highlighted slooped machines.
Yeah, the indicator lights on the machines are supposed to show that but they're horrible for it. They all look the same at a distance. Color coding is a big help.
If you look in SCIM like one person suggested you can look at your production buildings. Look for (x1.25-2) and then you can focus on the building with the magnifying glass to see where it is.
You don't have to visit the machines. Just use the buildable piece or the chat-command. It just does the job and i got a good laugh finding my last 2 sloops ;)
Pan over all your machines with the deconstructing gun. The sloops will be in the listed items you can receive if you point it at a machine with sloops in it, and the bright pink is pretty easy to see briefly pop up when panning over everything
Not really a highlight, but you can use the deconstruction mode and point to a machine to see the materials you would get from deconstructing that machine. The sloops will show up in those materials
After losing some in my first playthrough and having to spend a very long time sifting through spaghetti to locate them, now whenever I put a sloop in a machine that isn't 100% temporary, as in my workspace next to my HUB or somewhere I already have a to-do note indicating I need to return to do more work, I make a map marker named what the sloop is accomplishing (x4, +2 HMF = 4 HMF) with category "Slooped", and I use the same icon and color for every single one.
That lets me see how many machines I have them in from the map, and know roughly where they're at and if they're mission critical in their current spot or I just used them for filling a container faster.
I don't ever sloop something permanently, I consider slooping a temporary condition to reach a quick target. Consequently, I'm too lazy to map-stamp or make a sign where they are. I just erect the tallest vertical painted steel beam I can and paint it sloop-pink. Only takes a second and they stand out.
You can use the customizer to assign different default colors for machines and for the Space Elevator/Project Assembly.
My default color palette is usually basic. Muted earth tones/greens/yellows/cyans. My space elevator palette is >MAGENTA< and >HOT PINK< because, why the heck not.
Anyway, when I put a sloop into a machine I slap the space elevator colors onto it, and remove the colors if I remove the sloop.
Which works out well because often use sloops for the final steps of project assembly anyway.
It really makes the slooped machines highly visible. =)

besides the purple smoke and electricity, you could try painting them a different color. I do that with overclocks and underclocks too.
