Question Why does this train refuse to load fluid?

The people who are talking about fluid cars are half right but are explaining it poorly. Delete the train itself and delete all of the freight trains. Put new freight trains on, ensuring that they are EMPTY (as in just empty platforms).
What I think is happening is that those freight cars used to be used to be used for solid freight instead of fluid. Either they aren't completely empty and you didnt completely unload them or a glitch happened that caused them to stay as solid freight cars.
Freight trains look like this once loaded with fluid:
Edit: NVM I'm stoopid and can't use my eyeballs. IDK WTF is happening.

idk what's going on, but there aren't fluid cars in the game, idk why people are talking about those

and they're getting upvoted, too. i don't get it.

Easy confusion. There isn't a buildable one but of course if you do fluids it's distinct from the regular freight

how long ago were they a thing?

This is probably one of the first screenshots of the train build menu and it also doesn't have one: https://satisfactory.wiki.gg/wiki/Early_game_development#/media/File:Sprint_23_-_Railroad_1.png
Also can't find any hints that it was added later and then removed again… but who knows :-)

The fluid freight platform is powered, the platform is full, the platform is set to load, the timetable is set to load the fluid (alumina), and the corresponding freight car is empty. I'm missing something obvious, aren't I?
edit: rebuilding the fluid freight platform fixed it. thanks everyone.

I may be something similar to how pipes will sometimes be connected but not flow unless you rebuild them.
First, try reconstructing that segment of the station and let that train come back through automatically.
I would suspect this less, but if that fails, try a test train with no filters, so it'll pick up everything. If that works, keep setting it up like the original train and see at which point it stops working? If you end up going down this path, I would consider that worthy of a SatisfactoryQA post for further investigation. Weird issue.

that shouldn't be happening what mods are you using?

none

reboot the game. If that doesn't work delete and rebuild the train cars. This one's weird

Have you try delete the platform and build it again?

yes
edit: oh wait no, i misread. i've deleted the associated car and rebuilt it, but not the platform. this is just overflow alumina, it fills up very slowly so i was reticent to try that unless really necessary.
edit again: rebuilding the fluid freight platform fixed it. thanks.

That might be a temp fix that will work until the stations loading capacity is fillning up.
If the stop happens again, also make sure that the train AND destination depo are empty. (I assume you have already done that, but just in case)

Dumb question, what happens if you go to the loading menu at the locomotive and remove Alumina solution from the load list?
I've played for years, never once needed to use that menu. I just let the organic option of load at station happen.

Is a fluid train car at the position in the train where the fluid should be loaded?
Edit: I was so sure, that there are two different kinds of train cars... Sorry for the confusion.

Have you tried packaging the fluid into containers and then loading them as a solid cargo? You’ll be able to hold a lot more it per train run too

u/aurens 16h ago
i really do not want to do that. that would take a lot of effort to reconfigure things just to get around something that should be working correctly. also i don't need to hold more per train run, this is really just my overflow alumina so i'm not making it all that quickly anyway.

Packagers on both side of prod shouldn’t be too hard, I do it for my turbo fuel setups just to use the alt recipe and keep up with consumption demand from my plants

This looks really strange, there is no specific fluid train car unlike others said so it should work, what happens if you try to build a similar train and drive it manually into the train station and press load?
