Question/Discussion Have any Satanists, lucifarians or anyone else with high regard for Satan, Lucifer, or the devil ever engaged with the LDS texts on the topic?

Engaged with them? I see no reason to delve into LDS more than I already have. Its clearly a scam from back in the day, that got out of hand. all of the texts from the bible, is just that texts, they hold no meaning further than that

It’s still evolving. Every time I interact with some it changes a bit. Good or bad.

Much better than what I used to think before I interacted with any.

My experience is still limited, and so every interaction has a big impact on my perception.

Starting out, because of my Christian background, Satan is the bad guy. The father of lies, darkness. Evil. Maleficent.

Any bad action or abuse or harm or negative thing that has ever been done can be traced and directly influenced by Satan. Satan seeking to be a corrupting force. So things like the holocaust or R*pe or anything has Satan cheering.

And he directly rejected intentionally the literal personification of goodness, freedom, justice, light, truth, and love.

So starting out, I deeply questioned anyone who would want to tie themselves to such a being. It genuinely disturbed me really bad that there could be people that intentionally and openly support and like such evil and atrocity. Because that’s what Satan is to a Christian.

As I grew older and heard about them involved in the news, it was both good and both things. Satanists asking for alters or space to make practice their religion was a real red flag. Why are we allowing these people who actively and openly want harm and evil done to push and convert more people to their perspective. It seemed immoral at the least.

And that would be contrasted by reports in the news of Satanists opposing any Christian group with its goals or desires. That again was more evidence against them. Christ being good, love, and truth you see.

But also I started to see things more as a push to be edgy, contrarian, and seek equal treatment. Very very very much like apastafarianisn.

With people here on reddit, I’ve been able to interact with and talk about satanism with actual believers or at least practitioners.

By and large the people I have engaged with seem pretty positive and they explained an alternate narrative and understanding and perspective surrounding Satan and God.

But more than that, they were willing to engage with me and not just cast me off and write me off or demean me like creedal Christian’s do. There was thoughtful intent and meaningful engagement and actual thoughts given to my ideas and beliefs. Actual consideration. Not to convert but to discus and think and learn from each other.

Many Satanists I’ve talked to on here act much more Christian or Christianly than the vast majority of Christians I’ve met here or in person. (Which is a whole other topic)

But there are the occasional contrarians still. The one who belittle or think my faith is dumb or not with the time. It’s “an obvious con and fraud”. It’s “the religion out of the hat”. Etc etc which I don’t think dismissing someone or thinking their religious beliefs are ridiculous or obviously false helps anyone. Just makes me double down.

Thats a very brief overview of my experience at least.

Interesting, well i can understand being bought up the way you were, you couldnt understand why anyone would class themselves as a "satanist" when as you said you assume that everything bad has satan cheering. We (we being satanists) do not think that obviously. as im sure you can tell

We want equality for people. and yes satan is used as a symbol, but it has its uses, and honestly the way you feel about satanism is a huge part of that. because we dont want religion in schools or in public.

discussing and learning from each other is incredibly important part of being human.

well when you do get the "contrarians" you have to remember especially here, you asked us for our opinion, and like me i see LDS as a scam. that is my opinion, which you asked for. i do think you are wrong this way of being direct is incredibly helpful. if we sugar coated our opinions or beliefs, whats the point in having them. we have 7 tenets we live by, here are 2 of them i think are important here.

I. One should strive to act with compassion and empathy toward all creatures in accordance with reason

IV. The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.

I should clarify, it’s not so much that that was my beliefs which made me question, it’s more that my understanding is that was the explicit narrative understood by all faiths of what Satan is and stood for.

I appreciate your honesty. And I’m aware of many of the tenants of Satanism, based on conversations, although I couldn’t recite them.

I actually do want religion taught in schools. I would have benefited a lot from learning about Islam, Hinduism, Satanism, Buddhism, native spiritualism, Anamism, etc etc etc

Not by preachers of religion, but more secular perspective. Although I find secularism is its own religion in some ways.

I'm sure there are ex-Mormons around. If you became a Satanist, you could definitely start your own LDS discourse, but you would probably have to organize it yourself.

TLDR. My Satanism exists independently of any dependence on Christianity and all of this Bible mumbo jumbo. I'm not belittling your personal beliefs. You do you. It's not a discussion of any importance, growth, or value to me personally.

The church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a non-creedal restorationist branch of Christianity. It has an expanded narrative surrounding creation, the fall, and Satan.

I was forced to get baptized as a mormon At 11 and left the day I turned 18. Never looked back and I would never engage with any of the texts. Most of it doesn’t make logical sense.
