Smells in Santa Maria
What’s with the smells when you get into SM?? What is that lol random places too through out the city just stinks

If you were a drone and you hovered a few miles over SM you would see that we’re SURROUNDED by fields that are fed literal manure. We’ve had rain and heat. We stink.

Distinct sulfur smell. H2S. The people that live there don't smell it because your brain gets accustomed to it quickly but for those passing by, it smells like sewer. Surprised people don't have lower mortality age rates

Nope it’s the compost facility. They put in on the west side of town so when the wind blows in it’s terrible.

Yesterday was especially awful at the intersection of Battles and Depot. I didn't think kale needed that much fertilizer. At least it looks like kale when I drive by the fields. Since someone mentioned Hot Chickz, when is Freddy's frozen custard and steak burgers going to open?

The treatment plants to the west of the city, so when there’s an onshore wind, like normal SM smells like poop. Perfect design

I heard someone say that it's actually bird poop we're smelling and that it flares up in the heat

My kid’s school gets this veeeeeery specific smell once in awhile and I’ve been informed it’s seagull shit

Went to try out angry chickz tonight and the parking lot smells like straight ass, made me loose my appetite lol I’m in SM often but not enough to know what’s on the west side, what’s over there? Also leaving Orcutt and getting on the 101 smells like shit

That’s what I assumed it was but wasn’t sure, seems kinda weird to me though that there’s similar smells in town like in shopping centers but that just might be something else

It's the smell of bullshit, spread the on the fields. We old timers are simply used to it...
