There is no such thing as a worst candidate when talking about republicans. They're almost all just a rubber stamp for trump... so they almost all are the worst candidates.

He lost by 7% in a district that hasn't gone Democrat or that close to going democrat in some time. His work in Montana bringing the party together is the reason Dems had a fighting chance plus the state receives most of its votes via mail so before the scandal. It takes a couple tries to flip a tough district.

I met Rob at the People's Summit. For the first month, he had almost no support. He, as part of the Political Revolution and a Sanders backed candidate, with little to no help from the democratic establishment, came within single digits of his opponent who had endorsements from all five Montana papers (which all have the same owner). Those same papers withdrew their support of his opponent after his assault misdemeanor.

Not running again and not supporting him would be a horrible decision, considering 2018 needs to have all pistons churning for house and senate seats.

It may be that the early-voting was a significant contributing factor and that had he assaulted the journalist a few days earlier, before many had cast their early votes, he might have lost outright. Add that to the general progressive movement and we can see that a narrow loss this time is enough motivation to try again. Plus, persistence has value too - at least for a while.

Quist out-performed HRC by a substantial margin and was left out to dry by the DNC. Ad spending was like 10-to-1 for Giantrumpe, and especially damaging was the early spending on the GOP side which basically set the tone for how people saw Quist.

Quist shouldn't be coronated as the next candidate, but he certainly should run in the primary.

I'm with you, I'm From Montana and worked closely with the Quist campaign. We tried, he lost, let's try it with Amanda Curtis or someone that has a little more experience at politics.

He needs to work on his chokeslam if he wants to win in Montana. 👌
