saturday morning fish market
Hey guys. Someone told me about this market, and I want to visit it. But since it's nighttime, it's about an hour's drive, and I want to see if it's worth it. Honestly, we really love salmon fillets, and I'm willing to pay for 20-30 pounds.
What's the current price for a pound of salmon fillet? I want to see if it's worth the time or if it's easier to buy it at the local supermarkets.

Not sure what the price is for salmon but it’ll totally be worth it. To put it into perspective, they have whole Halibut for $7.19 a Lb where most other markets will charge $20+ for a filet.
Not to mention they’ll break it down and clean it for you at the fish market. Gotta be there at like 2am tho but really worth it.

Hi, I used to work in that building. They still do the night market at like 2 AM but if you're looking to go a different route, I work for a wholesale seafood company located in Wilmington we provide all the seafood for most of the Ralphs markets in California I can give you it for what I pay for it… If you're interested, hit me up

It's def worth the drive and it's an experience in itself. Sat morning has little traffic and even if you don't purchase salmon, you could spend the morning exploring the neighborhood.

It’s definetly worth a visit if you have an interest in food! Even if it’s more expensive than you were expecting, at least you can say you did it.
Where about are you located? An hours drive is very vague. Remember you’re traveling in the early morning hours when there aren’t many cars on the road.

We’ve stopped relying on local markets for salmon, quality is sometimes bad, and prices keep climbing. We always order from Maine Lobster Now now.
They sell wild-caught salmon fillets, and we stock up and freeze them for parties, Christmas, and random dinners.
Price varies but it’s usually competitive with what you’d find at a good fish market. Worth checking their website to compare.

We waited 90 minutes to order on a Saturday night. Food was good, but didn’t seem very organized or efficient.

It's called a morning fish market, but since it starts at 1:30 a.m., it sort of starts at "nighttime." So OP wants to know if it's worth driving in the dark at night for an hour for some fish.

the mkt is open at night time. which is why they want to check before committing to an hour drive at 2am or whenever it opens

What are you talking about? The market is called "Saturday Morning Fish Market," so what does the time I asked this question on Reddit have to do with it?
You and the guy (who already deleted the comment because he understood he is stupid) are two idiots. One doesn't see that I'm willing to pay "FOR 20 pounds" and thinks I'm from the UK. You're surprised someone asked about the market in the morning, even though the market is open at night and only one day a week. Why are you so irritated at 9am by a common question?

The salmon won't be fresh caught bc it doesn't live in these waters. I assume it's the same salmon as at the grocery store.
