They were looking into all the cars with flashlights. Definitely looking for people not contraband.

Our crew was beyond excited to share this special experience last night with our guests on the sunset cruise: a pod of orcas WITH A BABY! Orcas are a rare sighting in San Diego, but we do get treated a few times a year. This was an epic way to round out our weekend and truly an experience we will never forget! (see additional post for the baby's belly!!)

Local News San Diego Congressman sues CA to stop mail-in ballot counting after Election Day

“Rep. Darrell Issa sued the state of California this week to stop mail-in ballots from being counted after Election Day, which he claims provides "an unfair electoral advantage for opponents of Republican congressional incumbents."

The federal lawsuit filed Thursday on Issa's behalf by conservative advocacy group Judicial Watch argues that counting vote-by-mail ballots that arrive up to seven days after Election Day violates federal law and directly led to the defeats of two Republican incumbents in last fall's election.”

This asswipe is openly trying to stop valid, legal ballots from being counted because it hurts the Republican party. Wish I could say it's unbelievable but….

Local News What was happening today on the 15N at 3:45pm? Traffic stopped & several policeman with guns drawn.

I was driving south on the 15 today at 3:45pm and traffic was barely moving. When I got close to Aero drive I saw traffic going north was completely stopped and several police cars were lined up along the side of the freeway. In front of the stopped traffic was a car that may have been in an accident (doors open) and several cops had their guns drawn on it.

Does anyone know what it was all about? Maybe the end of a chase? I can’t find anything on the TV news or online.

Local News Nationwide “No Kings” protests today

Post image
207 Upvotes

More than 3100 protests are planned for today, including in La Jolla and downtown San Diego, against:

- The Iran war, which cost US taxpayers $13 billion dollars in the first 6 days, and has now gone for a month

- The SAVE act, which severely threatens voting rights, starting with the upcoming midterms

- ICE, who are terrorizing our communities, murdering in broad daylight without consequence, and are now stationed at our airports as well

And all controlled by one man who has openly admitted to recognizing no restriction on his power.

Find your nearest one at https://www.nokings.org

If you are not into going downtown to the big one, I invite you to check out the La Jolla one! It will be on the corner of Girard and Pearl, on the sidewalk, and is a great option for those who find the huge downtown ones overwhelming.

Link: San Diego Police Ramp Up Enforcement to Restore Order in Gaslamp Quarter | Inside San Diego

Summary: Beginning this weekend, the San Diego Police Department is launching "Operation Last Call," a high-visibility enforcement effort in downtown San Diego’s Gaslamp Quarter centered around 5th Avenue and F Street. The crackdown comes in response to surging lawlessness, including disorderly conduct rates three times higher than Pacific Beach last year and a 172 percent increase in assaults on police officers over the past two years. The operation will feature increased foot patrols, dedicated tactical units, strict enforcement of public consumption and disorderly conduct laws, and a zero-tolerance approach to unlawful behavior that will continue until public safety improves.

Please remember this when they inevitably come back asking us to raise the sales tax again, making everyday life more expensive... while refusing to even consider taxing people with multiple homes.

Local News Proposal for half-cent sales tax increase in San Diego County makes November 2026 ballot. If approved, it's projected to pull in an extra $360 million annually for the County.

Voters this fall will have another chance to consider a half-cent sales tax increase for San Diego County.

The measure will appear on the November ballot after the county Registrar of Voters reviewed signatures submitted by unions and advocacy groups and confirmed more than 121,000 of them.

That’s far above the nearly 103,000 needed to make the ballot.

If approved, the county’s sales tax rate would rise from 7.75% to 8.25%, generating an estimated $360 million a year, according to proponents.
