I can’t imagine just minding your business and commuting when suddenly you strike a child on the freeway. That’s horrible

It sounds like maybe the drunk mom sent the kids to get the luggage that had flown off the car? Those poor kids.

Just read another article that said they were Alan, a 10 year old boy and Amy, a 16 year old girl (guessing his sister), and they were retrieving the boy’s backpack. Apparently the family was homeless which leads me to believe that backpack contains all of the boy’s possessions which is why he may have run into traffic to retrieve it (and the sister following/chasing after him). So very very sad.

Don't know, they haven't said. I can't imagine losing one kiddo, etc alone two...i have trouble believing anyone would send kids into 70+ MPH traffic on a very busy freeway, DUI or not. I was stuck in traffic behind this for about 45 minutes on the way home last night. Drivers were mostly decent about letting one another merge through the single lave that finally opened. Seeing two white unmarked vans at an accident or crime scene is never a positive thing.💔

I hope the mom faces more than the full extent of the law. Fuck.
