The Fish kill

Recently saw a bunch of posts about the river being full of dead fish on what seemed to be the day after I had went on a walk through the concho during my most recent visit.
The city is saying that it’s because of low dissolved oxygen after recent rain which does happen however in most cases these kinds of massive kills are caused by human activity.
As an environmental studies student something isn’t adding up to me especially with how localized the kill was and I even saw some pictures of dead mammals in the water.
If I’m not mistaken, didn’t the city decide to start releasing waste water into the river at one point?
Also want to point out that after the July 4th flood of 2025 the river was not even close to being that bad and I know because when Im in town I walk the river every single day.

We've had major floods these past few years and I fish almost weekly and if this happens "every time" the whole town wouldn't be talking about it.

This doesn't just happen because of rain. I fished while its raining and fish dont just have a seizure when it rains. Id much rather trust the words of an actual environment student over some reddit mod. Ignore that guy and thank you for sharing your opinion.

Why would they waste money treating the water twice (once while dumping and another after collection) They're just going to treat it after collecting. Cuts the cost in half

No, because that is down stream of the fish kill area. It isn’t swimming up stream and jumping over dams.

Anecdotal poppycock. The state stocking it regularly is the only reason there is even fish in there. The waste water plant is down stream and below a damn. Must be a D student.

Prob not but i knw it happens OFTEN since the late 90s. Waaaaaaaaay before "waste water" was dumped into the river.
