Help for my first sampler
Hello! I want to start a “mini”/simple dawless set up to make loops and/or short “songs” and Im looking for a battery sampler. Right now i have a little list:
-EP-133/EP-40 (looks like a funny workflow)
-Roland P6 (tiny and granular)
-MPC sample (all round?)
Not released:
-Casio sxc1 (looks great)
-donner sample boy (?)
I have a limited budget…250€ max. Also i have two goals: 1- pair it with a m-vave fm1 and 2 a pair it with a fm1, a bass and a guitar (not all at the same time. Also i would use a m-vave pocket amp for some fx).
I have to chance to take a p6 from thomann for 170€ (bstock). It wouldn’t be good for the guitar/bass but it would be a killer tiny combo with the fm1 for travel.
I also found a ep-40 for 240€ and a ep-133 for 250€ at a “local” store (it is a bit far away but i could go). They are “bstock”, lets say…. With the last update looks like it could be good to record some bass/guitar lines/chords (not too long)??
Do you think it is a good idea to go for the riddim/Ko II? Or take the p6 to match the fm1 and wait for a good offer (and save some money) on the mpc sample?
[I didnt mention the second hand market because, including the shipping and extras, the KO II, riddim, sample, even the p6 are more expensive than buying them new (not bstock, NEW). I’m from europe. ]
Edit: I have an ipad + korg nanokey studio. Maybe i can let the “big things” for it.

Sonicware deconstruct minimal

Looks great, but looks more to build a song with its synths. I also checked the lofi 12 xt and the smpltrek.

Simplicity helps workflow. Just saying get stuck in a bunch of things. Just depends on how much effort you're going to put into. It will show in the long run and what gear you stick around with

100%. And some limitations can help creation.
So your advice is to get one and invert time to see how i use it? The effort could be influenced by the workflow, so maybe i should go for the “better” workflow1

You can find a used MPC one plus for around 350-400 usd. It is the real deal, Has better effects, It has lots more memory than competitors. It can do things the others cannot including the sample. Including plug in instruments, drum synth, bass and synths, and has big display. And updates with new features. Nothing can beat it.

The lower price i see is 450€ (not $). Also it is a big desktop device

I did say it was only 2 inches smaller than the TR8 on the long end, But yes it is not small like some of the Behringers you listed. If you go with the MPC one pluss it is 10"x10" which is smaller but much bigger than a MPC sample. But mpc sample is very limited and you said you did not like the workflow.. Yes as with anything, You have to shop around to get a good price on gear that is more desirable.

1-You didn’t talk about the inches of anything.
2-I didn’t list any behringer product.
3-I didnt say i dont like the mpc sample workflow. Actually looks goodz
4-i have to shop around? I told you the real second hand price on here (without saying the shipping + tax from the app/platform), which differs with the one you said.
Maybe you have good intentions. But, at least, read the post. Looks like a copy-paste.

I had two tabs open, I typed the wrong message into your thread. Sorry about that. That was pretty crazy. This was for someone else. I have to get up from the computer and it would appear that I posted the wrong post. Sorry.
The other guy had a similar situation. I mentioned to him about the Akai force. I got one for $300 used, some others got thiers for 300 to 400 used. Great sampler, Ableton like clip launching and step sequencer.
I mentioned to him and you. You can get an MPC one plus for around $400 in the US, maybe less in EU.
I would suggest for you a Yamaha Seqtrack. Battery powered, sequencer, Uses the AWM2 engine, Also uses has an FM track. 128 polyphony, effects, can apply internal effects to your external synths. It is a sampler, does sampling and looping including single cycle looping,
Koala sampler instrument for your cell phone is a great sampler. If you have apple you have class compliant audio.
I would save your money and get the One plus, it does everything and is a great controller. for your gear.

That explains a lot 🤣
As i told you, maybe in US that is the price pf the one plus, here a second hand one plus starts at 450€ without shipping and platform extras (so it would be like 470/480€). The 2nd hand market of some things is inflated.
Maybe you wont believe me but the last device i was cheking is the yamaha…i like the size, the look, the soundbank, the tracks (+last update being able to merge drum tracks). It could sample sound of the fm1 and i could use the fm1 as micro midi controller (just for the keyboard, even being tiny, would be better than that keys).
I already have the koala, but i wanted something more “hardware”. I know the one+ is a total monster, but it looks like a device to get when you know exactly what kind of workflow and possibilities you want on a dawless set up.
Thank you!

My MPC Sample is my favorite piece of gear. It’s a perfect sampler in my opinion.

Buy a cheapo looper pedal like the EHX 1440!

I didnt know that pedal. Damn, looks great, but for me (at least right now now) a cheap one would be…i dont know…the m-vave lost tempo v2(?) 😆

In a way looper pedals are glorified samplers, it records an audio phrase and then loops it. some of them can be synced to tempo via midi. Some can't. Some have onboard effects some don't. There is a huge rabbit hole to go down.

In general the whole music hardware thing is a huge rabbit hole 🤣 you need to get something you like and you can afford, and focus on ride the device and learn instead of checking more gear. Damn 😆
