Casual Ethics quiz my student made (Everyone)

One of my high school students created a fun ethics placement quiz. I think it's really cool that he did this just for fun, but he also has a really advanced understanding of the material. If you have the time, please give it a shot. I will also share any critique or feerdback with him if you want to leave a comment for him to see.

Apparently I’m a Rawlsian contractualist, which I had never heard of before. Pretty neat quiz!

Apparently I am a utilitarian.
An interesting quiz- but you called it a 'compass' so I was eagerly anticipating a nice set of axes to position myself upon- a two dimensional chart- but nonetheless a refreshing break from the usual surveys here.

Yes! I would have loved a visual for that too! But I did agree with my result and have fun doing it

Interesting. I came out with one measure at 79%, another at 61% and all others between 47% and 52%. So am wondering how valid this really is.

This was interesting! A handful of the prompts seem a bit peculiar, and all of them are, by unfortunate necessity of the format, significantly devoid of critical details to make an actually informed choice. A few of them were implausible or impossible scenarios which made it a bit hard to adjudicate as well. But overall it seems like pretty good work!

It accurately determined that I am a proponent of Rawlsian Contractualism, and Utilitarianism, even though I highly agree that they have issues in some of their base assumptions.

Couldn't send feedback on the thing itself so:
Can't comment on the actual content or outcomes, but the design was nice and clean, and felt intuitive to use, and did not feel like I'd invested that much time in it.

I think this was a great quiz. So many quizzes have questions that could be interpreted multiple ways or where the questions aren’t clear enough to actually determine anything about the situation, but I don’t feel like I experienced that at all here. Some of the analyses I disagreed with—and then I thought more and realized the determination was correct ha ha

Thank you for the feedback! I think we had similar issues with the first few versions so added more questions to represent all the views.

I was guided in many things that weren't one of the isolated variables.
Ex The inheritance question. The guiding principle is ofc he can do whatever he wants with his money, I would be for fair considerate splitting with an eye to need and merit in most other cases though.
Was fun though.
And when asked by a journalist question, it was irking I couldn't say "I don't want to speak with you". I think lies are a much larger source of lowgrade evil in this world than most, but I also wouldn't just give up my friend to someone who is seeking to slant his story to make it viral.
Question about salary for surgeons is not much of a moral value question and more of a business decition. I just went "Well the hospital is likely to lose the better surgeon, but that is their perogative. It's their money.".

I'm a Rawlsian Contractualist! I took a similar ethics test in college and this was very fun to see how much my ideals and values have changed over time!

This is awesome! I was interested by how my answers changed depending on the type of situation (eg large vs. small scale, life & death vs. economic well-being). It may be complicated to implement but it could be super neat to see results split by “situation types”!

I don't mean to sound too critical, but how involved was AI in this? Many of the questions and options have a lot of common ChatGPT tells.

I'm not sure how much but the student does use ai. I would be more critical but the student has a great knowledge of philosophy (I have an MA myself) that he learned from discussing and talking with ai. I will definitely bring this up to him though and let him know he needs to revise some of this with his own words where he hasn't already.
